Well I've narrowed down my EQ choices to a select few AC products. I've gone through most of the specifications, but I wanted to see what kinds of pros and cons there are to each unit (other than price of course) The DQX would be my first choice of course, and its perfect for what I need, but I dont want to rule out some of the less expensive analog eqs. I do plan on competing next summer, and want to tune my system against an RTA. I'm worried that the EQL or EQX dont have enough bands to tweak. Any suggestions would be great.

Audiocontrol EQX
Audiocontrol EQT

It's been mine and others experience as well that AC has a hit or miss reputation on whether or not their products will introduce alternator whine into your system.

You also have to ask yourself if you want to fade front/rear or sub. Some EQ's only have one input and output. Which is great for eqing but not for fading. The EQQ have dual input while the EQX did not. The EQT only has one in, one out...really ask yourself do you want to fade. Some companies like Alpine and Eclipse use a hide-away eq with their head units. This way you can fade front/rear & sub and still eq. I use a Phoenix Gold 232 in my SQ car. But I could care less about fading...

tThe EQL only has 1 in/output, So it is mainly used on the sub channel, the cool feature is the on/off button so you can check the difference with or without the Equalization

well maybe it made noise because you didn't ground it properly, because I know for a fact my EQL doesn't make noise, and I know that because I used to have a DEI Eq that did make noise!

Gee I dunno, I installed an ESP-2 in my car. It made noise. I swapped it out for an ESP-3, and didn't change the grounding points, and it makes no noise. Hmmmmmmm
