Best 3-way comp set?

I had a thread earlier for best comps under $400. Then I changed my mind. Gonna work some o/t and go for the serious upgrade. I want to get a 3-way setup, gonna fg my own kickpanels. I like the look of the Focal K3P, but i don't know of many others. I'm even interested in a DIY setup. Can I get some prices and dealers as well? I think I'm hooked!

You can get some really good quality product and save a tonn of cash by going the DIY way. I would say you can get awsome speakers for $600 or less. But even if you get the best stuff on the planet (what ever that is) you will need to take serious care with your install.

My best suggestion would be to set you goal for you system first, and then go find the speakers. Take a trip to a few hi-fi home shops and listen to what they have to offer. Good sound can mean many different things.

I will likely do door panels over kicks. I chose the 3-way mostly because i think it looks really cool. As for sq, i listen to alot of rock and metal and i like to really hear the drums and the guitar bite. Not just the bass and the double kick. I would like to do as much of the work myself as i can, although i think i will go to a shop to get everything properly tuned. I'm open to any advice.

Hey man, if you're not competing.....If it sounds good to you it's all that matters....Kicks sound great, door pods sound great. As for tuning, hopefully you have some sort of EQ, and do a bunch of reading on the net about crossovers, harmonics, octives etc...and try tuning it yourself, because nobody can tell you what sounds good or not, its all in the listener (except for the tone-deaf people).

In a word "Amazing"

Try these on for size, and sound quality.
I've never heard such a neutral, yet full bodied system until I heard the Morel.

I can vouch for the morels... I auditioned:

Morel Elate 2 way/3way
Morel Dotech 2 way
Focal BE 2 way
Focal K2p & K3p
Hertz Mille 2 way
AVI BSM 2 way
AVI BSM Tristar

Plus my general experience with lots of other stuff... price no object I would run BE's, but the Elates were better than anything else, even the 2 way is awesome. My car is barely tuned at all and it sounds great already... they're just so natural sounding it's unreal.

DIY will yield the best results for the money. But you'll need to do a LOT of reading and good luck finding air-core inductors
