I'd have to say best sounding car I heard was the Blue Trans-Am demo car we re-built for Alpine Canada. (after it was butchered by a big chain store(no names)).
It was our 1st Transmission Line cabinet, using 2-8's, it was entered in a Sound Off in Williams Lake, and took Top Gun honours and best of show, (Installed by J.Springgay).
The car was sold to an Alpine dealer in the Calgary area, who called me for the design of the cabinet..,err sorry could not sell the cabinet plans.
I did hear some great sounding cars but none of them impressed me as much, since most had an excess of bass.

demo mode is not competition mode for sure, certain competitors would tweak their sound so the demos at competitions did not represent what the car really sounded like so they couldn't steal the 'winning sound'. Demo cars are always bass and usually treble heavy. I always wondered what the Alpine BMW X5 would sound like if not set up for demos

This was not "tweaked" in any way shape or form, it was as basic as basic systems go.
Can't recall the old components, but it did have a 3321 EQ.
6062's x4 +6022x4 incl 2-8's
I forget the HU and amps, as it was in 1988!

Box specs that I can recall were a T line cabinet tuned to about 70Hz @ just under1/4 wave.
you'd have to ask big "D" for the rest.
He should still be running his home repair business on Princess St.

Joe's done a few different systems though I think. He can comment more if he likes although I'm not sure if he's on here much anymore and what he's up to at all these days. He started out with a pair of 10s AP-loaded I believe in the rear deck of his car in the early 90s. He still has the grilles in the car and it all looks brand new. Then I remember the only time I saw a finished system in his car was at the 97 Motorsport Show at the PNE which had 3 Alpine 3545s, two AP-loaded 15s (3545 on each) and a pair of horns (USD or ID, I don't know) up front on a 3545. Yep, just those 4 speakers. Then in 2005 when I listened to it, it was different again. Trunk wasn't done and he refused to show it to anybody lol
