Big Guns chip in on front stage
I'm designing the front end system for a daily driver. i've done the 3 way 9", 4", 1" in my Z with some serious processing power and liked it although it was tuning intensive and install intensive also.
in the spirit of doing quicker, simpler and lesser things in sub zero canadian winters, i'm thinking of doing a nice 2 way with 6 1/2's and tweets (possibly with additional tweets on the dash). i really liked the midbass of the 3 way system. i've got enough tweets, 4", 5 1/4", 6 1/2" and even shallow mount 8" drivers to make any combination of system.
wattage, channels, EQ and X-overs are no problem. my main concern is getting the mids to give me nice midbass without sacrifing SQ or midrange. if need be i can get specific mids that work well in smaller enclosures (i think i can get about .3 cubes per side) for some sixes. as last resource i could just get some 4's or 5's in the kicks and 8's in the doors but that would make tuning a bastich and require alot of work on the doors (cold winters are evil). How much sucess have you had on 6's and what drivers have worked well for you. keep in mind SQ is key.
lmk your thoughts,
Marco
