Hi,

Now that the sub is finally finished, I'd like to replace the 6x9s in the back of my car with a set of 5.25 components in a box. The components I have are Clarion SRS1384.

The problem is, I have no clue what kind of box I should build for them, as they don't have box specs for these speakers. Here are some specs for the speakers:

Epinions
sounddomain

So, I'd appreciate some advice on the following:

1) How big shouold the box be, and how much Polyfill should I line the walls with?

2) Ported or sealed? If it helps, I'm looking primarily for rich mids, and the speakers will probably be crossed at 78hz or so.

3) I assume it makes absolutely no difference whether the tweeter is in the box or not, right?

I don't have a problem experimenting, I'd just like a good ballpark to start from if possible.

Thanks,
molo

Yeesh... all this being ignored and cast out reminds me of high school

Throw me a bone here guys, I know there aren't any T-S parameters, but I was thinking 0.3 cu. ft. sealed, walls lined with 0.5 inches of polyfill, tweeter wherever I can fit it (inside or outside). Does this sound OK?

Get the T/s specs yourself...takes a day of messin around but well worth the effort. Ported might work...have to get the specs first and see.

not to offend, but i dont think you are going to get "rich" mids out of clarion speakers. they usually dont post specs on lower priced mids from what ive seen, but try calling clarion, or call the store you bought them from and they should be able to help you.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I'll probably do the T-S measuring thing since I have access to all the required equipment and I'd much rather play with that than chase down the Clarion people over the phone.

MIKEONE, you might be right (although I hope not), but even though I may not get rich mids, I'm sure I can get richER mids than if I just put the speakers in free air.

Good idea to do a test with a speaker that you already know the specs...just to make sure you're doing it right.
I found a lot of discrepencies when i first tried it, and had to adjust my equipment a bit.

When you can get consistant measurements...you'll know you're on the right track.
