Can I use 2 10" subs from different manufacturers
I've got a 150w rms Rockford Fosgate 10" sub, and a 200w rms Phoenix Gold
10" sub. Both are single voice coil 4 ohms.
I want to throw them into a box together.
The are very similar subs with similar specs, how would they sound together?
Good? Bad? Worth doing anyways?
I really just don't want to go out and buy another sub of one or the other kind.
Thanks in advance to those who take the time to help me out.

Thanks you guys, for the very quick responses.
In my opinion, i can't find anything wrong with this set up either.
However, that is what makes these forums so great, people all
have different experiences and ideas to share.
So since i was already agreeing with 92z34, by the way nice ride,
dj flash, could you please elaborate why it would be a bad idea??
Thanks again you guys!!!

even though they are similar specs they would react diferenty as far as excurtion toneality ,you could get some cacelation if there working against each other.if you are set on putting them together at least sparate them in ther own encloser .
See the cool thing is....they are different.
I will get a wider variety of basses.
Djflash came up with a good point with cancellation.
From what i know of cancellation, it will only affect a subwoofer
stack (2 or more subs in close proximity) if they are placed at different distances from your power source.
I will be meticulous in the length of wires I will cut for both subs.
Well, Friday will be the big day, I get my amp on Thursday, I am borrowing
my friends 2x10" sub box for the tests before i build my custom box.
I will put both subs in the box.
Hook up one sub, check the sound, do the same to the other side, then together.
I guess my ears will be the final judge.
If they sound horrible together, I will either make a box for one sub, or purchase another sub of one or the other type.
Whichever sounds better.
And if i do end up pairing them, i think i will take dj's advice and seperate them in their own enclosure...good idea
Here's to hoping they sound kickass together, maybe I will start a new trend with sub pairing
.....not likely
Thanks are in order to all of those who replied.
If there are more opinions or views, give me a shout, i'm open for more info!!
