Can you have to much power?

Thanks for all the reply guys it helps me allot
I had originally intended in picking up a couple of those Ultimate t3 1000ds and running them each at the 4ohm load the subs pull, then I thought of just getting 1 and running it at the 2kw at the 2ohm load. The amps seemed like a good deal so? However today I got a great deal ( I hope? )on a old 1998 Rockford 500.2 so I will just look for another to match. I will be in the same boat for power as they put out a little over 1kw bridged at 4ohms but its a class A/B instead of the D class the ultimates are.
