confusion

hi! i have been reading for about 1 month in about 30 different forums
and i am more confused than at the beginning of mi search,so maybe i did not get the right info for mi search please correct me if i am wrong

1-a sub should be made polypropylene or alluminium with rubber surround
2-Sensitivity: at leas 90 db or more
3- Frequency Response: 38Hz - 32kHz
4- dual voice coil
5-Impedance: 4 Ohm is how i will used this sub
6-500 watts is the max power i want for this sub
7-10 inch are tighter then 12 inch
so please help me to chose the best SQ sub for my honda 10 inch or 12 inch it don't mater what maters is the best tight and low sound for lest than $300

What you should look for is a sub that is greater than the sum of its parts!
Well disigned woofers somtime look very similar to lesser products.
$300 will get you lots of choices to choose from. I would narrow your list down a bit before I make any real suggestions.

most of this is vary untrue.
1 and 7=Cone has to be light and strong.Stronger and lighter the better. This makes the sub fast to respond(sample a DD9912 sounds the same as a 9918 one just gets louder because it moves more air)

dB is just how loud it is at 1watt at 1 metre has nothing to do with how loud it can get

Frequency reponse is mesured in many ways and always varys. Not a big spec to look at

I can help you find something but I need to know more like what size of a box you can place in the car and we can go from there

A 10" isn't necesarilly 'tighter' sounding than a 12". The enclosure is what affects the sound.

here's a list of things to check. Once you have these done, tell us what you found, and we can make some suggestions.
1. how much space do you have available for a box? measure the area.
2. how much power are you planning to use for the subwoofer...which amp? how many watts?
3. are you more interested in sound quality or loudness? you can have both in good amounts, just not competition amounts.
4. what type of music do you most listen to? some designs fare better with certain types of music.
5. cost...which you've said is about $300.00.

figure those out and let us know. I'm sure we'll be able to give you some good recommendations.

the sub i'm not getting into yet
so for #1 i will go there later
so i will start at #6 look at an older audison lrx 6ch (ebay for in the $300's)
a 5-6ch amp will work
#10 will be hard to do it you are $300 for cleansweep $300 for a sub gives you $200 for an amp .i would move that up to about $1000 +taxs

given the space, money, power, and type of music...look at the Alpine type R 12". Works well in small sealed enclosures, clean sound, more than loud enough with 500 watts, and can be purchased for under 300.00 retail, or much less on ebay. I would add 1 pound of polyfill to your enclosure to simulate a box of about .9-1.0 cuft, which is what i have. It gets plenty loud and is very clean and clear. I also listen to those groups you mentioned, as well as most everything else, and i couldn't be happier with it's performance. There are probably 100 other subs that will work just as well, but it meets all your criteria, and I am giving you current, personal opinion of a product installed in my vehicle.

The DIYMA reference 12" sub fits well into your criteria.
