A few days pass and there's 3 pages now? Well, I hate to intervene on the coax comparisons, etc... but I would like to get more info on the original topic.

I'm not even using coax's... I'm using:

AVI 25D Tweets
AVI 4" LX
AVI" SL-170's for midbass

The midbass is oging in the door so it's out of the equation for now.

Here is a picture of the DLS car that I just found on the net:

Tommi Heikkinen

By far, this car had the best imaging I have ever heard... in any car. Tonality wise, I still have to give it to the Focal car running the new (at the time) Be line of components at the 2005 CES show.

The issues related to dash mounting, like relfections... etc... are things I probably cannot predict until I experiment, right? Everyone used to mount their TLR's on the pillars... how would this be any different?

I haven't been able to get the part rapid prototyped, but here's an image of just the tweeter pod with the tweeter in it.

My curiousity is whether or not placing it infront of the mid would be advantageous... hence the design of the coax. Marco, great idea about the Theil drivers... I've never liked their appearance as it looks kinda cheap, but they always amaze me at the Alexis Park booth @ CES. I'll look into that as well. Btw, now that Christian (PLOW) is back on his island, it's time to focus on my car! hehehehehe...

Zoomer: I've listened to kicks in other RSX's and never really liked them... perhaps it was just how they were made. I'm interested in trying something different and still amazed at how that DLS car sounded and would like to get the same imaging. He used the Pioneer P9 setup so I don't think tuning is any more advanced than the H701.

Here's another DLS car as well... mounting is quite simple, but I don't have access to CNC mills that can cut spheres (need 5-axis I think) nor do I have the funds.

Just something to inspire...

looks like fancy over head track lights and side rear view mirrors...hey maybe you could modify those items to work for you. Just a thought...

Lightbulb

Small rubber ***** and other spherical objects combined with fibreglass..

If it's the shiny you're looking for, they can 'chrome' anything these days, it doesn't have to be metal.

The sl-170 isn't a very good midbass at all.It is more of a subwoofer than anything else.

Your idea to mount tweeter and midrange is a good one.My set up is the same, good centre image,But hard to set up for two seat judging.

You will need a good flexible electronic X-over due to the pld's between the midrange and midbass drivers.

That setup looks very interesting. Those pods are really small.

Since you like changing everything all the time eddy, one has to wonder if you did that, where would you go from there?

Since the setup is on the dash I suppose you need some time correction, did you have an oppertunity to listen to the setup on both sides?
