Dayton reference ....??

Does anyone have any experience with these drivers, I have read some great reveiws, and comparisons against the top of the line from SEAS, Scan, and even Focal Utop. ....these drivers hold their own in all of the reveiws I've come across, and the price ( just around $30 can per mid) is great.

Has anyone heard them , basically I'm looking for any reasons NOT to buy, I have been searching for comps for a long time , and keep coming back to these just cause of the price....
I could re set up my whole system ,.. 12" reference SUB, 2 5" mid's , 2 reference tweets, 2 7" midbass, and even new cable for my whole system(also from Dayton) for the price of 1 Focal BE mid.

any comments ??

Thanks

go for it, won't burn a hole in your pocket.

i'd love to try them out, but I don't even have a solid install at this point so it's not my priority.

Thats what I got, they were so cheep and well reviewed. Worst case if they don't do the job I can just build them into book shelfs for the home.

I purchased the 5 and 8inch along with the shallow mount 10 tangband.
Now if only smartass can let me know when the deck and amp I want will be available and I can start installing some of this.

Cool , well thats what i was thinking too , for around $400 can. can't go wrong for an entire system thats well reveiwed

I am thinking of going with the titanic Sub just because I like a little bit more kick.

I'll make my order form Parts express soon, and I'll start up a new thread with a WIP of the whole process through installation and sound. I think there might be a bit of a stigma that you have to spend thousands to get a good SQ car audio system , maybe not though

as you seem to already know, the dayton reference are almost impossible to beat for the price. i got myself a set of 7's just because....and may build a 2 way bookshelf with them. for the price you can't go wrong and if you do, you can probably resell with marginal principal loss!

The rs 180's sound great in my car. Just don't cross them any higher then 2000 (24db) they get a little funky after that. So that being said you need a low playing tweeter (reference dome works well) or a mid to bring it up to compact tweeter range. If you have the room, and are going with a mid, why not try the RS-225 it will play up to 1000 with good results, and it will give a better lower mid base response.

Cool, Thanks for all the comments, good to hear from someone who has them installed as well. I was going to go for the Ref tweet as well.

On another note, I am just on Partsexpress.com at the moment putting my order together, and another driver caught my eye

They are called Dynovox ? ..I can find no info on them Googling. But , heres the thing, I have Totem speakers at home (Hawk )....., I'm a huge fan of them, Anyways, I have heard that the Totem Forest, one of their best floorstanders, uses Dynaudio "look-alike" drivers, something made in france to their specs.

Anyways if you've had the pleasure of listening to anything "Totem" you'll know why I bring this up. These Dynavox look VERY "Dynaudio'ish", made in France too.....hmmmmm .... I'm SOOOO tempted to give these a try....

AGGGGG...the pains and pleasures of this hobby huh
