deck/ speakers

allright im in the market to buy a new deck and speakers

as of deck im looking for something fully loaded.. like time alignment and 3 way active since i will go active soon when i find a good amp

soooo
alpine 9887 with KTX-100EQ
or 9886 with PXA-H100 and KTX-H100

is there a huge difference in sound quality ???

or clarion DXZ785USB

pioneer premier DEH-P980BT

if theres any other good quality decks under 800$ let me know ill look into it

as of speakers im looking to spend approx 300to 500 $ and since i CAN NOT audition speakers i just need opigions. im looking for great midbass smooth highs ( i hate harsh tweeters) and great for off axis setups... hope this helps

so far what i found
clarion sss601
alpine type x ref 6 1/2
energy 6 1/2
JL Audio C5-650
Boston Acoustics Pro60 on sale now if not Boston Acoustics SX60

just a thought, but if you're after SQ, consider the alpine 9860 with the RUX/PXA H701 combo and run optical, you should be able to do this easily for $800 and have all the control you can ever want.

other than that, I had the 9887 and loved it, had the 880prs and liked it a lot too.....but switching to optical made a huge difference.

as for speakers, I have the hybrids and I kinda like them, I'll give them more of a chance to grow on me, but the scan speak revelators are my favorites easily so far.

Out of the ones listed: Alpine 9887 with Boston Pros. I echo the Hybrids. Right now until July 15th, they are on group buy on SSA forum with 25% off, so you are within your $500 budget if you get the Clarus set.

The Alpine 9887 will do everything you want without the KTX-100EQ.
The only reason to get the module is if you want to Imprint the system.
If you enjoy tweaking your own system I would stay away from the Imprint feature.

I run the Alpine Type X Ref components.
The tweeters are in the stock dash locations firing at the windshield.
They sound surprisingly good considering the location although
I have them attenuated by -8db as they are too bright otherwise.
I got them super cheap so I'm quite happy for now...

Right now user Ross is running a sale on CDT ES set, and he is also from Canada, so you'll save large, if you were planning to get your gear from the USA. ES is worth considering. Also a really nice Diamond Audio Hex set is available on Ebay now for a more than fair price.

Most of the time - Yes. However, not the case with CDT and Ross. You will not be quoted a lower price on CDT, and he is local, so you save big.
