Just curious what the price of this deck is across Canada...
I live in Regina, sk and it's $1,099 here which sounds like it's marked up a ton considering people in the states are buying this deck for $500 - $549usd.

hey,
The retail on that deck is around 1039 canadian.
The decks are only marked up around 30 or so percent, so if you get one for around 850-900 you getting it for a decent price.
Alot of the place that you see it for 500 or so dollars are not authorized dealers and you cannot get any warranty for the unit.
from what a hear though lots of people like the new eclipses.

My best guess as to the price difference is that in Canada Distributorship areas are well protected....as a result, way fewer distributors which results in less competion thus higher costs to the retailer.
Phoenix Gold is a classic example of how the distributor holding Canadian rights controls the price, the retailer really has no option but to charge what they do.
On the flip side of the argument sometimes the Canadian distributor also has to handle all the warranty issues and servicing so they explain that makes the prices higher, but they also get the product a bit cheaper to make up for the added responsibility so the feeling I get with some product is that we're still getting ripped off. I might buy this argument if all gear under similar warranty arrangements was priced at the same level but thats just not the case IMO as JL, JBL and RF are way better value and much closer to the prices the consumer pays in the US.
Personally I would have purchased some PG Ti amps a couple of years ago but I felt the prices just weren't fair in light of what our neighbors to the south pay.
