I'm starting to piece together another SQ system, I really miss having a good one.

Here's where I'm at:

Denford 8250ti
Focal 136k2's
Morel Renaissance SWR-12 x1
One Genesis Dual Mono, looking for a few more.

I'm looking for an EQ/crossover setup to work with this. I'm going active. I want to control it all from the front seat, I had IDQ31's in the trunk and hated trying to tune them. I'd prefer to use an EQ that does justice to the 8250, which makes me leery of digital since the two additional conversions, however I know that I'm not going to get front seat control unless I go digital.

I guess the main thing I'm pondering is, what are the EQ/crossover setups that would work with a supurb HU that doesn't have optical out.

Here's why I'm doubtful of using something like a DQX or an EPX2. I've already got a source unit with great D/A's, why would I want to convert back into digital to process, and then back into analog again?

I suppose then the Alpine H7xx or H9xx might not be what you want either since they do their own d/a conversion as well. Another interesting product are the Alto's http://www.altomobile.com/html/crossovers.html but again, since they convert in the digital domain, you have d/a converters.

At 2:42 in the morning, I really can't think of a digital unit that wouldn't have d/a conversion in it. You're left with analog I think and an analog unit you can control up front electrnically escapes me.

hummmm i recommend either the H700 or Alto. i've heard both extensively and am extremely pleased with the results....the alto would need a laptop up front to be used to full potential and with ease (very flexible and precise unit) while the H700 would need the controller mounted up front...all about sacrifice.

Why don't you skip the EQ, and just get a good analogue active X.O.

TRU Technology F-1B, or F-2A.

Uhm..... the EPX-II is not digital. Its just a straight forward analog piece. and It has a remote for programming x-over points, adjust 28 band eq and preamp control.

xs cargo is selling an analog 7 band 400watt power booster with dancing lights in the centre of each slider, selling for about 70 bucks. oh and its 1/2 din!!! lol good luck finding what you are looking for. sorry i cant recommend any unit that already hasent been mentioned. try a 110 peice and have the power supply modified, might be your only option.

I chose the PXA-H700 but I hear the Audio Control pieces are nice too.

BUT - if you want to avoid ALLLLL that crap you could just avoid any EQ or active crossover and just keep it real and go all passive
GO ANALOGUE GO!!
Ok old man

Yeah, I think it wil be an EPX2 or a DQX. I had an epx2 ages ago but sold it due to extreme poverty However I probably got double what one would cost me now
