Any input on this one or has anyone tried it? I am just waiting for it all to dry so I can try it out. 12" ID MAX. Enclosure equals 2.6 ft/3 after allowing for port and driver. Sound damped, siliconed, rounded edges, ect., and made a slot port. The overall enclosure width is 15" so the port worked out to be 13.5 X 1 X 16. Guessing it to be arround 27hz. Any advantages or disadvantages with slot ports?

we just had a id max 12" sent to us by the fine folks at kankar marketing to try out, critical evaluation as follows
1.3 cubic ft sealed box
alpine mrd m1005 amplifier
nissan 240 test vehicle
alppine cda9833 cd player
we ran this woofer through a ton of testing, with tones and all sorts of music after 12 hours of break in with 18 volts at fs, spl measurements were never taken becasue that is not what we were testing for, we wanted to know how it sounded, but i can tell you that it did get loud realtively well
this woofer has alot going for it, it was very capable of getiing loud at very low fequncies(sub 30 hz)which not too many speakers are capable of
i did find the attack to be quite good, not as good as my reference woofer but better than every other speaker ive heard. except for the reference
the idmax on a couple of my reference tracks, didnt have the mechanical noises that most woofers have when driven hard, which was very nice to not hear
here is a list of the reference cd's i used
cowboy junkies, trinity sessions, track 2 -5
usac disc, track 16, 17
paul brown-up front, track 7-11
tool-lateralus,title track
metallica-and justice for all,track 3,4
aaron neville-cant remember the cd title, whole cd
sarah mclachlan-surfacing,track 5'7
dire straights-brothers in arms, title track
24/7spies-track3-7, everyone should own this cd
i would say that this is the 2nd best woofer ive ever heard, and the differences between 1 and 2 are minimal, both do certain things better than the other, i particularily like the deep bass linearity of this speaker. its worth ever penny at 649.95, not that my opinion counts, but i would recommend this woofer to anyone serious about getiing some of the bass bass ive ever heard in a car, the guys at kankar are great to deal with and image dynamics have engineered an amazing woofer that deserves attention, ftr, i am not an image dynamics dealer but asked for one to evaluate, and kankar nicely obliged, thanks guys
