The first of many questions

I'm new to car audio but have a lot of knowledge in home audio. I bought a 2011 Toyota Tundra and would like to build a high quality system based on sound quality, I don't need video or any other bells and whistles.
1: I like the interface of the stock head unit. Can I get top quality sound out of it using an Audison Bit One or similar unit or do I need to change to a diff head unit such as the Pioneer DEX-P99RS?
2: My stock tweeters are located in the dash and fire up at the windshield. Would they not work better located in the door pillars?
3: At home I use 2 smaller subs in my 2-channel system rather than 1 large.
Would that same theory work well in a truck?
4: I use to have McIntosh equipment at home until I moved up the food chain.
I would like to use Mac amps in the truck. Does anyone have any recommendations of anything that might outperform Mac? Or where can I get McIntosh amps in Vancouver.
5: If I go with Mac amps. What speaker brand pairs well with Mac?
Thanks

1) I believe stock+Bit1 is an excellent option.
2) Probably. Wait until you decide what front stage drivers you are going to get.
3) One larger or more smaller, your call.
4) I believe Ralphs used to sell Mc but not sure who does now. Audison comes to mind for a well respected amp line. Arc is the flavor of the week though.
5) You need to listen to speakers. There's a lot of nice drivers out there. Hybrid Audio is very popular in the SQ arena right now, and Focal and Morel are always strong performers.

Once I choose my equipment then I will focus on an installer and putting it all together.
At home I have settled on the equipment that provides the sound I like and now I am designing the acoustics of the room to suit that equip.

Is there anyone in the Vancouver area that has the brands you mentioned and other top speakers available for auditioning?

604 Autosound in Abbotsford and Sounds Good in Coquitlam are two good places to start.

Had a nice chat with Mike at SoundsGood in Coquitlam. Very helpful to me and really helped me to start selecting the right gear
Does anyone have any suggestions for a head unit with great SQ in a Double Din touch screen?

Curious: In your first post you were pro keeping the factory deck and now the first thing you ask about replacing is the factory deck. Why the change of heart?

As I have learned about these things I find out I can get all the features I like about the factory deck in an aftermarket head unit, along with having a touch screen, a screen for a backup camera (which my truck does not have), and better interface with an Ipod. The Bit One is almost as pricey as a good head unit. That's why I thought I would try this forum, to look for advice since I am just learning about this stuff and I don't want to learn just from dealers.

Depends on what you need in terms of processing. There's a similar thread in the General Discussion area in regards to some double-DIN choices. A couple pros/cons listed there as well.

Personally I went with the top Kenwood double-DIN. I wanted NAV in my vehicle but honestly would have given it up and settled on a nice single-DIN unit if it wasn't for the fact that my dash looks terrible with a single-DIN. I guess it depends on your install and how important the double-DIN features are to you.
