absolutly amazing, nothing i'd buy for 4g's unfortunatly he didn't get the "be"'s crossback but he'll order it if someone wants it. he's using a k2 crossover, its retardedly clean and smooth. its makes any other speackers sound like which is kinda unfortunate cause once again my system feels so insignificant. take a look if u'r in the area. its pretty cool

Huh... why isn't he using the stock Be x-overs??? I would assume the K2 x-overs aren't set correctly for that speaker set... This from a stereo shop...

If it were me, I would make them sounds as good as I could, if I wanted to sell the damn things. I wouldn't want to have to tell a customer demo'ing them that "if you buy them, they will sound totally different because I didn't want to bother buying the right components, so that my customers could demo them properly" or at least make them sound as good as they could in a demo board.

at the end of the day, if you can afford the speakers themselves, shell out the extra for the right x-over, and do it right.

IMO if you can't have the 'correct' passives for them then they should be ran active....

"Thanks for dropping $4k on the speakers - I tossed in some $50 passives for ya.."

ya the main reason why he didn't get the be's crossover is cause it costs another g... cost. Brian the focal rep even said there's not ganna be much of a differance in the overall sound. i've heard them with and without, not much sound and if lee can sell BE'S for 4g's compared to the suggested retail of 6999.99 then let it be. i suggest u come around and listen to the focal BE's before judging to harshly. amazing speaker overall. but anyway i hear that focal is coming out with a line of amps... i hear they're poo for high end stuff but still worth a look see.

I could be wrong, as I don't know the exact x-over points of the Focal Be's or the K2's, but I find it hard to believe that the crossblock wouldn't make any significan't difference, opposed to using a passive x-over from another set entirely,

It's no different than using a tweeter from another set because the right ones cost too much. if you're going to sell a product you should have it in it's entirety if you expect your customers to drop the money for it.

if the customer wants the best of the best it could go the other way. trust me it still sounds of anything i've ever heard before even without the right crossover. so if u'r going to sell it its easy to tell the customer, "hey, u love this sound it would sound even better with the be's crossblock. if you wanted the best of the best wait 2 days while i order it and u can here the differance", cause realisticly speaking how many ppl are ready to drop 4g's on a pair of speakers, and if they are then i'm sure they wouldn't mind waiting 2 day's to drop another 2g's on the crossblock. it makes sence to me i sappose. lee just wants the best prices for the customer. and someone who's getting focal be's knows what he's looking for and will wait for it. since he has no chioce with lee being the only store in ontario to sell them.

The best way to show and sell the speakers would be in a multichannel active setup. I would suspect most people considering the drivers would likely go active anyway...
