Focal 33kx or JL 10w7?
Well I dont post a lot on here any more but I'm looking for some advice on these drivers.
For background this is for my summer show/strip/cruiser car.
1976 Datsun 280Z- LS1 swap runs mid-12's full interior blah blah
Stereo:
Pioneer Premier deck
Front stage is Focal k2p's with TN52 tweets in custom FG door panels
amp's (two) are Elemental Designs nine.2's (2x100 or 400x1)
Currently I have no sub stage I'm just running the focals.
I want to add in a sub and I'm looking at these two subs, maybe an IDQ as well.
I've got 400w to work with for now, but I want to change the amps out later for something different that will go better with the speakers etc.
This is not an SPL car at all. Its for SQ and enjoying the tunes while cruising with the car.
Gratuitious door shot
And the car (sorry its so big)

i've got two 33kx's and would never think of anything else! One alone is loud two is on the edge of too much!
keep in mind it needs 1.75cu.ft to sound good sealed or
# 1.75 cuft. net # 4” x 13” port. # Allow .3 cuft. for driver and port.

The focal can make due with 400watts however I've heard good things about the IDmax - but apparently they break apart with too much power but - I heard that through the grape wine!

Man i love your Z car!!!! Anymore pics? but to business. 400 watts is optimum for the w7 10, 500 is just entering the danger zone. no experience with the focals other than afew demo cars that always sound great but nothing else. Figure out what driver would be a better use of space and go from there as the 280z doesnt look like a 2+2 so space is a premium.
w7's look great in anything with their stealthed mounting screws etc oh and i'd paint your door speaker screws black.

I'm so torn its not funny. I can get the W7 for a stupid good price, but I don't want to need to upgrade the amp to make it worth while. I may just stick with the Focal by the looks of things. Time to hunt one down I guess.
