Focal FP2.150 vs Zapco C2K 2.0x

Hey Everyone,

I'll make this quick..... The amp will be powering a single 12" Sub, able to handle 600 Watts RMS. I'm lookin into the two amps in question, the Focal FP2.150 or the Zapco C2K 2.0X? So what should I choose?

My main concern with the zapco is that its only rated for bridged 200 Watts RMS @ 4ohm... but i hear they're stupidily under rated. How much underrated? The focal is 400 Watts RMS.

What i'm looking for in sound? Well i'm not looking to rattle the neighborhood, i want a tight amp that kicks hard and quick. Both of these amps have a high Dampening Factor. Focal >500 and Zapco >900.

Any comments are greatly appreciated... let the battle begin!

thanks

You are right about the Zapco C2K-2.0X being completely underrated. The specs denoted on the homepage are "B" weighted. Just out of curiosity, which sub(s) do you intend on using?

Yeah, my choice would also depend on what sub would be used. If i understood your first post right, it would be a single 12" that has an RMS rating of 600 right? Based on that, I would initially have to say that both amps here don't have enough juice for that kind of sub to reach its full potential. I would look at a sub that did at least 600 watts RMS but ideally more like 800 so you have more headroom.
