Focal/Rainbow combo
hi i was thinking of mix matcing my system, i have a audio control 2xs active crossover, so im really looking into having a mix-match setup, so far im thinking
Rainbow W130 SLC
http://premier-audio.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=8
and Focal TNA tweeters (pollyglass V1) or TN45(Kevlar series)
now my question is to rainbow guys, do you think the rainbow mid would be comparable to say a Pollyglass Focal v1 or v2?
i know i can get a set of Focal 130 v1s for 250CAD, now does anyone think for 300 dollars i could beat the focals by miss matching any brands?
if at all possible i would like to stick to something 45MM or wider for the tweeter, being i already made my stock hold to accommodate the focals i sold. and i want the midbase to be 5.25" not 6.5"
i like clean but full music, if thats going to help.

Yea, for 300 bucks you could get a nice set of mids that sound better than the Polyglass set.
But if you're set on using Focal tweets....grab a set of TN52's.....the TN45's are kinda bright and don't like a-pillars....or TN47's would even be 2 steps up from TN45's

If you are running active, you can go DIY and get a REAL nice setup for about $300 or less from madisound.
A pair of Seas CA18RNX for $61 each and a pair of Seas 27AFNC/G at $29 each, run active with woofers low passed around 60hz, high passed around 3200hz, tweets low passed any where from 2500-4000hz depending on location, should sound pretty damned good.

how much better is that seas setup over this, i wont be using passive crossovers, ill be 100% active, but would the seas combo dogstar mentioned blow this kit out of the water?

Ive seen reviews of the Vifa tweeters in that kit a few times, www.diyma.com has some, iirc.
Im not familiar with the vifa woofers and I didnt see any reviews, but vifa is generally pretty decent quality.
I cant really help you out with a direct comparison between the two of them, but thats a pretty reasonable price for a complete comp set if you want 5.25".

ok on that solen site, i went seas, to order all my things, (i canceled my other order). now i cant find either product you mentioned. so what do i want to buy off that site, in your opinion the best setup i could buy for 200 or 300. please use product numbers that solen has, i will rush order. like i said im going 100% active and brand names mean nothing, my doors are 5.25" and well tweeter im not sure, but i dont want anything massive. stock location is by window, but i think ill put them in mirror pods.

yeah i hear ya, you know more one day in next couple weeks we will meet up, and im putting this system in my daily driver a 1999 Acura CL, it does have a bose system stock, i just read non-premium cls have 5.25", but it said the Bose equipped model is 6.5", so yeah ill go with the 6.5, ill know for sure when i have the door panel off.
and what do you think about these LPG's? (im doing a mirror sail tweeter install and these would cosmetically fit better, but do they call to the sound quality?

i will be running 2 way, im thinking of running midbase 80hz-2500hz, and then tweeter from 2500hz-~ i assume you made a typo with the 63-250? you mean 2500 right? or do you have a 3 way? 63hz-250hz would be MIDBASE. and 250hz-2500hz would be MIDRANGE?

this is my plan, and this is what i have...
alpine f545 ch 1/2 is 125RMS at 4ohms (use this for midrange)
ch 3/4 is 500RMS at 2ohm (ill use this for sub(s))
alpine f345 ch 1/2 75RMS at 4ohm (use this for front tweeters)
ch 3/4 75RMS at 4ohm, ill use this for rear fill (mid-base when i have the kick panels made, and money for another audio control crossover)
and when i put in mid-base ill use my alpine 9885 to power my rear fill (2 way passive crossover), and when i can afford to move foward another step ill buy a 2ch amp for them, or who thinks it would be better to just run rear fill speakers off same ch's im doing front stage as, being my amps go all the way down to 2ohms?(thus losing the passive crossovers, and running then on the same circuits as my fronts
