I am not using the passive focal crossovers, I use the built in crossover network in the head unit "cd7000".

I have my tweets crossed over at 3.15khz w/24db slope

(I made kick pods similar to yours, except I only have my mids in them.)

Try moving the tweets up as suggested - they are best off-axis - as well you will get about double the volume output as you are now as you will be about 1/2 the distance from your ear... in rough terms..

As far as the EQ comments - EQ will tweak things out once you have set everything up right - and you may find that you have a hump somewhere that when that is brought down - everything sounds right (always cut freq that are too loud first - don't boost others to make them as loud) In theory EQ's should only cut - not boost.

If you do decide to move your tweeters, and you want more top end (maybe you like lots) - you could look at doing 2 sets of tweets - one in the kit and one up top - may play with your imaging a bit - but you will have lots of top end - and you will not need to push them hard as you will have double the cone area! 2 inchs left and right :)

If you move the tweeters and stick with one set - let me know and will get a couple of the Focal logo's from the the mid grills so you can make a nice plate and use them as accents to cover your tweeter holes in your kicks.

I found out what my problem was with the tweeter issue!

The Boston 6.5" Neo's were not crossed off properly since they were set at 80hz and up without no cut off. The Focals were fighting the Boston. Once I disabled them and eq'd the focals for about 1-2 hours - with a friend who has a great experienced ear. The imaging opened up and a begun to impress my ears. He found them to be a little fresh and said they require more break in time - although I broke them in for a week solid at home!.

I'm now going to be searching for a mid bass driver that will compliment the focals and that can reproduce frequencies in the 80hz to 200hz range that is fast and accurate! I know there is a 3-way system avail for my 4" & 1" Focals but that route is too late. So time to look for a Raw driver from possible Solen or ?????.

Nope it's not late to do Focal Mid-Bass's - our Mid-Bass kit can be added on to any speaker system. The X-over goes inline before your existing x-over - custs the low's from your mid and bandpass's your new mid-bass.

Tony I plan to run the mid bass drivers off channel 3/4 on my amp and the 100's off 1/2 crossed off somewhere in the range of 150 to 300.

Focals are sounding just right now.

Did some major trimming on the new AudioControl DQS eq and finally got them to sound smooth. Looks like they are going to stay in the kicks!
