Clarion 9255 into an Audison SRX4 bridged to two channels driving a set of Focal 165 K2P in a Chrysler Intrepid. Rebuilt the door bottoms with mdf and 3-4 layers of glass. A layer of sounddamp mat and several coats of spray on both inner and outer door, sealed all holes for switches ect. Compared my sound to two Focal boards and two Focal cars and the sound is the same. Went to another dealer who built his own enclosures (aprox. 16x9x6") with a K2P and a Utopia (acting passive) sharing air space and these things sound like there is a sub on them. Considering building an enclosure into my doors. Any other suggestions?

a lot of focal speakers nowadays are designed to be played infinate baffle in a door not to be sealed in an enclosure i have just had to move my 6 inch midbass speakers from small sealed pods to the doors infinate baffle but the increase in effiency is definately worth it

Adding deflex pads behind the midbass drivers in my doors and adding proper sound dampening in the doors immensely improved the midbass response. I have a 3 way Focal Utopia set. The midbass performance is exceptional. Depending upon the recording, it sounds like I have a subwoofer up-front.

I had to put a bit of eq on my k2p's in my doors to bring up the mid bass.
But my car naturaly looses those frequencys from what i have read on Fbody forum's,
But I have Bquiet in the doors which helps.
I use to have my k2p's in sealed kicks that Underdogg built and they sounded nice, but from what i can remember took 1 db of boost in the lower frequency's
