Rear stage... but to have sound appear from the front? I'm I reading that correctly?

If you won't be disclosing amplifier brands, would you care to disclose how much power you plan to use to drive these speakers? Quite interested to see where you're going with headroom. But if it's a route as nonchalant as your speakers... hahaha j/k

As for the TD's in the summer, I've actually found them operating at very cool temperatures... then again, gains were always set quite low and I ran the LD-2 line driver. Things may be different this time around, but with 300wrms (according to TD) per driver I 'should' be able to keep everything at a minimum.

I was joking about the rear stage.

I don't have all the amps finallized yet, but I'm pretty certain I'll be running around 700w per midbass.(Class A/B) Everything else will scale from that depending on frequency.

When are you expecting to have your system up and running?

I won't be starting installation until I get all the components sorted out. BTW, tweeter will be a large format piece.

I hear voices...sometimes I'm not sure if they are real or not.

Subs are gonna be BIG!

Hey Adam, nice to see you surface once again.
Holy, this thread is just full of old schoolers!

looks like an excellent 4 way front end from the first pic. However, if you are going with a large dome tweeter, presumably to play rather low, have you considered going 3 way front with say 10's as midbass? with the power on tap you seem to be planning, why not mate it with serious surface area?

looking forward to see what's next with your build!!
Marco

Hey Bud,

Great to see you poking around here too!

Good question on the mid planning. The whole front stage hinges around the Audiom 6WM, which is a bit of a tricky driver. It doesn't like to play high enough to mate with a large dome tweeter with effective dynamic range, and it doesn't play low enough to mate with a true subwoofer. It is however extremely detailed, dynamic, and well....it can play really loud in the frequencies it's "good at".

Plugging the gap between the tweeter and the 6, will be the trusty 4W2 which I've always really enjoyed. It's only downfalls were that it just never played low enough(below 200hz), or loud enough(figures considering it's only a 4") below 1khz for my liking. It's new role should put it right into it's sweet spot.

The tweeter I'm having some problems with; maybe someone on here can be of some help. I'm trying to purchase a pair of Morel Supremos, but they don't seem to be available anymore despite still being listed on the Morel website. Anyone want to help me score a set? (Actually 2 pairs....I know someone that might also be into a set)

This brings us to the midbass, which Mr.Marco has suggested a good 10" driver for. Truth be told, I'm not convinced my 21V2s will keep up with the midrange or the sub configuration I've chosen, even with around 700w driving them. The mids are almost too darn efficient, and will have more than their rated power driving them. The subs...well they are most certainly overkill. So I'm open to any non-conventional suggestions that can play well between 50 and 250hz, are efficient, and can handle 500w. Kinda sounds like a pro-audio driver....

From an install perspective, midbass path-lengths will take priority over midrange path-lengths, so what ever driver I use needs to fit under the dash of a Tahoe. And yes, I do realize that Tahoes are not very good SQ canidates, but that's not entirely the focus of this build is it?

I have been told the Audiom 6w was in Jason Gay's Pontiac (icebird?) mid-bass (very memorable 5 minutes listening to stand up bass in his car). I opted not to go that direction primarily due to the inefficiency of the driver... but yeah it is good.
Speaker City

I do have a pair of Dynaudio Esotar 330 (NOT D series) tweeters laying around collecting dust if you are interested (the magnet is bigger than my fist) I think its Fs is 750 Hz with a recommended crossover of 2000 Hz or higher

I have never heard the Supremos in a car without an edge to them (most likely windshield reflections, so proper install may change my mind) ... what model number is it? Probably heard them in home audio and loved them
