gain on rockford amp crackles

been having a cracking noise when i adjust the gain dial on my amp.
kinda sounds like a bad connection on the dial maybe? mostly does it when i get past 3/4 of the way turned.
any way of fixing this problem?

^^ yep...normal noise for pots that don't get used often enough. Spray some contact cleaner on it and work it around a bit...doesn't affect the sq of the amp. Once it's set it's fine.

I would say that this sounds like a practical joke from Snap and Pop, was there anything like milk spilled on it? Failing that try a electrically neutral contact cleaner on the pot and see if it responds. Scotch (3M) makes this product.

That's funny, I had that happen with a brand new MB Quart FX1.600.

It's only on the initial contact of when my screwdriver touches the gain dial; just a tiny crackle.

tried contact cleaner and it took some of the crackling out of it.its not too much of a problem as once it is set where i want it its ok.

i have other problems now lol. was gonna make a new post
i cant seem to get rid of my alt whine .put a noise filter on both the battery and key switch wires before the hu and it didnt help . guy at car tunes said its more than likely
a bad ground ,so i ran a new ground wire from the battery to the amps and also
used the main ground i made from the chassis at the same time and it didnt help any.
i dont get any engine noise at all with the hu by itself even without the filters.
just when i hook my amps up. the subs also dont whine just the amps that power my door and rear speakers. any help would be greatly appreciated as ive been looking everywhere online and keep getting the same answers

Fortunately you should only have to touch your gain once, maybe twice, to set up your system so it shouldn't really be an issue.
