Setups I've enjoyed using............. Pioneer P9 combo (but it's not a stand alone EQ) and the PPI DEQ 230. And shortly, we'll be playing with the new Arc Audio DXE. And I actually did like the Sony C90 with the 4K processor. USing a laptop it was not to bad to setup. The 4K wasn't as flexible as onoe would want but I actually didn't mind the laptop style tuning setup.............. on a nice BIG screen.

With regards to EQ-ing, if you've done a good job of design and installation, all you should really need is a parametric EQ with a few bands. You really shouldn't have to do a lot of EQ-ing. IF you do, then your design and install is a piece of ****. That being said, my last setup in the SUV with the P9 combo............ yikes, the EQ-ing was mad. Thus I now brand my install as/was junk. Mind you some very hard obstacles to over-come in that ride......... that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

I went old school (and wayyy cheaper cuz it was used ) and am going with an Alpine 3401 fully parametric EQ. 7 bands or 4/3 bands front/rear but full parametric capability. And it's ANALOG and has no xover built in

The xover is another analog unit: the Alpine 3656 and it's on a separate chassis than the eq

Can't get a brand new one...there a few years old and RF don't make em anymore as far as I know. There outdated, and when they start to break down they suck...usually the mother board will seperate from it's mounting posts and cause you a world of trouble....if you can find one that still works good and is in really good condition then you have found a beautiful piece that I guarantee you'll be happy with. The RDAT can be a pain in the *** though...sometimes after a while the buttons stick and make using the unit very frustrating to use.

I like the RF OEQ2....simple to use, small and sounds great.

I agree with Tom about the over use of EQ in a car. There is a better way...it just takes more time. The results of which are mesmerizing.

BMWs can be tamed Tom! You just need to do some cutting....and cutting....and more cutting.

For Sale: Many small pieces of my BMW. PM me for details.

I just got finished listening to the VRx 460/6 and the VRX 1/500 on 2 12" Focal polyglass...5WS Audiom 6W and TN-51's.....I have nothing to say because I can't speak right now, I'm still trying to figure out whether I was listening to a system built by God or not.

The detail was out of this world.....not quite tuned properly yet....but I heard things on some songs that I have never heard before...songs I have listened to 100 times or more.

I can say without doubt that's the most detail I have heard in a car.....in fact it reminded me of my girlfriends dad's home audio system that consists of a Bedini reciever, Krell 2 channel amp, Rotel cd player and Bedini EQ...playing from a pair of Tonsil 3 way towers....so much detail and tonally, it's unreal....Anyway, back to the car...it's being EQ'd through an Audiocontrol DEQ....so I'm gonna say GO DIGITAL GO!!!!
