MB QUART QSC 164 6.5s or JL AUDIO VR650-CSI 6.5s???

JL is JL, always good stuff, but I heard those MB's are actually really nice. I believe some others can enlighten you.

I hear the MB Q quality isnt so great as it used to be.
JL makes some pretty hard kicking Subs.

Why not audition them both and let your own ears decide which is better for you?

The JL's will be a little less harsh on the high end, but the Quarts mid's will be better, have better tonal balance, and play lower, a litle harsh for some people on the high end though. IMO you are much better off to get the JL audio xr's much better than the Vr's. if you want JL's . they can be had for like 250 U.S. That's what would get my vote for bang for the buck...

What is your budget?

And I have decided to go with the JL's. I had them in my last car and loved the sound that came out of them. I didn't know too much about MB Quarts, but I heard they had top notch quality sound. After asking around a bit more... People reinforced your thoughts... the Q series was hyped up too much, and the sound quality isn't the greatest.

Thanks

The Mb Quart's have really taken a step down in quality. I've used them personally and would not go back. They have become the "affordable performence" speaker, which many others can compare.

As for the JL stuff, good build quality and reliable.

IMO, I would consider a set of Focal Polyglass series components. They should be around the same price range.

Thanks,

The specs on those focals do look very appealing... U might have made my decision a bit easier. They're about $100 more than the JL's though...

Sad.

So basically, we are down to reading online reviews of how the sound of a certain Sub is perceived by someone else's Ears.

Good that you are putting money on JL. Should be good for you since, as you say, you are already a satisfied JL user.
