I am in a kerfuffle on my speaker set up. I am not going for sound quality competition as of now, but I am following the IASCA rules for a guideline. I am planning a JL build for the speakers right now as I like their products and their not overly expensive. I currently have a pair of 5.25 in my front door. My questions is should I move these speakers to the dash with a little custom installation, then get 6.5 components in the kicker and 6.5 mid bass drivers in the door? All with custom fiberglass, it will be my first fiberglass work so it may take some time. As for the back speakers probably take them out I have some low quality ones in there now. If anyone has some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Also the car is a Pontiac Sunfire 2 door.

That's getting way too complicated and a staging nightmare. Decide if you want to go 2-way or 3-way. There's plenty of great 6.5's that will fit in the door and you can get great sound by going with a good quality 2-way comp set (that's what I did).
You could do a 3-way set if you want as well. It gets more complicated this way but if you take some time to do some reading you'll figure it out.

Ditch the rear fill all together. Leave the factory 6x9 openings empty so the bass can get into the cabin.

There's a recent thread about someone wishing advice on doing their cav/sunfire on this site. Do a search for it and it'll likely give you answers to most of your questions.

VR525-CXi in doors(already have)
Tweeters in A pillars or find some horn tweeter(not sure yet)

 

Bench, best suggestion is placement choices and install techniques; spend more time on this first.
Where are you located in Ontario. I'd be more then happy to give you some first hand pointers, so you are on the right path you want. Putting a speaker in a specific area on paper means nothing if it performs better in another area.

 

OK yeah your jumping in whole hog, could I recommend you walk before you run. If you do this with a 'one step at a time' approach you will maintain a proper level of control over your ride.

As you make changes try to keep it to one at a time, since it is inevitable some of the changes will not be to your liking. You will probably spend less in the long run and do less 'damage' to the car.

I need something to work with on positioning. I guess theory doesn't always play out in these situations?

 

I don't like systems with no rear fill. When you ditch the rear speakers, you have to amp the front stage to the point where it is painful to listen too. An overpowering front stage with an empty spot right behind your ears (it's obvious something is missing when you turn your head slightly) doesn't cut it for me. I do believe that the front stage should be stronger than the rear though. That can be tuned easily with your fader or by keeping the gain lower on the rear stage.

It's a matter of personal preference though. Listen to other peoples systems if you have a chance and decide for yourself.

 

I just noticed you want to do coaxials in the doors, coaxials in the kicks, and use a seperate tweeter up top????

I would steer clear of this.
