hooked directly to an Xtant 2140C that powers my front stage untill I can afford some better amps. From the Xtant there is an RCA output that feeds a Rockford amp of some kind....cant remember the model number, not that it really matters anyway. The Xtant is powering my Phase Linear 5.25's and Kicker Resolution tweets and they are crossed over using the POS Phase x-over.
The sub is a single CompVr 12. There is no Proccessing whatsoever at this point in time.....I have neither the patience or time to install my Behringer and I'm only running a 2 channel amp on my fronts so what's the point of using a 4 way active x-over? Not that I could anyway.
All wiring is Scosche and the RCA's are Scosche's top of the line Twisted Black Platinum RCA's.....a 20 footer and a 3 footer.
Now that you've revealed again, that I'm not actually using most of what's in my sig, how bout some actual words of advise instead of ridicule?

I know that they are not to your high end standards considering all that gear in your bedroom

I don't have any decent amps, I never claimed to. What's wrong with Xtant? They all sound the same with gains matched anyway
Now, like I said....how bout some useful info, or please don't post....I didn't post to discuss what equipment I have.

Sorry, I didn't read your post very well there slow/n\low. There's nothing wrong with Xtant at all, infact I couldn't be more happy with this amp....It's old, it big, it's heavy and makes one TON of power. And I believe it's pre-Mitek era, which makes it even more kool. Not to mention all the neat stuff it has like a noise gate and seperate gains for each channel(something you didn't see much of back then...or now)

Dude, read how your post sounds to others reading it.
Your asking for help solving a troubleshooting problem. In your post you go on to say " Hooked directly to an xtant 2140c which is powering my front stage untill I can afford some better amps"
your dreaming!
I never said there is a probelm with xtant, you seem to think there is much better out there?
People asked what was in your car, im sure they dont care to hear the reasoning for you not having your behringer in the car.

Uhhh, yea I can think of quite a few better amps out there than Xtant.
But I also didn't say I don't like them or that they are crap amps....they are excellent amps, I have no problem with them at all. and if I didn't get such a good deal on Audison amps I would definatly be considering using them for my install.
Also, I simply stated that there was no processing in the van and why....if you don't want to hear an explanation of why it's not in the van, then don't f***ing read it, it's that simple.
Now, I've never heard anything from you that was helpful in any posts I've ever read, so offer some suggestions, or I suggest you don't post here anymore.
Am I asking too much? Maybe you didn't read what I already wrote...but I am not here to discuss my or anyone elses equipment choice. I have a problem that needs to be solved before it drives me up the wall, if you can't help, or don't want to help, then don't ruin my post with your negative BS.
Thank you very much.

I think it is the noise floor you are hearing. I have bench tested a few different amps with a 12V battery and a small speaker and heard a static noise, even with the gains all the way down. Noise increased in volume as the gain was increased.
Mark Bruno tested 2 of the amps with me, and we even tried using mute plugs but the static noise was still present. I later tried this on another amp and noticed the same thing. These were all high end amps that were brand new in 1 instance, and almost new in 2 instances.
I challenege anyone to try this same exercise with their amps, as I would be interested to know if you witness the same thing with other amps. The noise was very low, but it was there.

ok you need to start from a point where you can begin eliminating each piece
first is the noise there when you put the key on accessory
or is it only there when the vehicle is running or key turned to the run position
dereck i have used the mute plug elemination in a truck i put a system in
it indicated that the deck was the problem
wrong
took me forever to find that the tach wire for the remote start was bringing the noise into the cab
i cut the tach wire noise was gone
it was a gm truck tied it into the tach at the dash vs the one at the coil noise problem elimiated
