I got a new toy!
My father had asked for new headphones for his birthday and in my typical fashion I decided to get him the best pair I could in my budget. I learned that Shure had come out with a new line of full size cans. (To those of you not familiar with shure they are a high end microphone and In ear monitor company)
I went to pick him up their base model the SRH240's they wounded great on the demo board and were their consumer targeted model meaning they probably would sound good without an amp off of a portable device. Before giving them to him I decided to upgrade him to the SRH-440's the mid model and semi pro models. I had a chance to listen to them and they blew me away, I just returned today with a pair of my own and have been spending the night listening too them. For all of you that appreciated accurate sound in your vehicles I highly suggest you check these out for a cheap home solution (they retail for $130 and I think they sound better then the grado 125's)

Ok, that would be great. I do wonder how Shure top end sounds like.
Different people like different sound sigs. I for one don't like Grado sound, and starting to hate Senheiser. From entry to top end neither Grado nor Senheiser do it for me. I prefer Denon and Audio Technicas, and they sound completely different from each other, but I love them both.

I do like the grado higher end models to hear them correctly though they need to be amped I find I do like closed backed headphones better then open in general though. I completely agree that people all have different taste, ( I had an segment with a guy yesterday about the beats by dre being amazing I think they are crap) I too would like to hear the top end model (the 840's) but they are about 300 and true studio monitors meaning I need an amp. I have heard thier full line of in ear monitors and the 5 series are amazing.....

I bought Grado SR80s off ebay for $113. When powered by an amp they sound crazy good, on an MP3 player they're too loud for people around you. I read all the reviews, SR125's reproduce better high frequencies and the lows/mids don't get better till the SR225+. I'd like to hear their top of the line, I still want more bass and clarity. MMMM mahoganey.
