RTA does little to make your car sound good but it does teach you what flat sounds like, it teaches you what you have to change to fix a problem area, it tells you if you have a problem area. Granted flat sounds lousy it is important to teach yourself how to self adjust specific sonic areas (I would rather do it myself, and so would you but you need training to do that). I just bought a Behringer RTA very nice and quite inexpensive ($220 US with Microphone and 30' mic cord)

I use it to find "holes" in the sound stage, but the ear still works the best. RTA curve of flat sounds like ***....

Hehe, yea but you'll love it when you go into competition and a judge sees a flat curve

Tune to ear, but remember, what you like, isn't always what a Judge is going to like.

Or if your not going to compete, tune to how you like it.

...and how many people here have actually heard a totally flat car?

Back to the topic at hand:

Yan is looking for a Shop/Store in the Toronto area to help tune his car. Is there a shop willing to step up to the plate?

Good luck Yan!

Brandon once again you speak with the expertise only a total lack of experience on the topic will give you...

IMHO there will never be ANY judge who will think a totally flat curve sounds great...because it just never does...and I mean never. So once again Brandon I really don't know where you come up with this BS.

On the other hand, a judge would probably like to see smooth transitions from octave to octave declining SMOOTHLY and in a LINEAR fashion from bass to treble, perhaps smoothly rising at the upper spectrum, without any sudden dips or peaks....and as it happens, usually that kind of curve ends up sounding infinitely better than a flat curve, and can still score perfect as long as the octave to octave transitions are within the guidelines.

Generally the only judge that likes a flat RTA curve, is the RTA mic.
