Unless Mr. Brandon who is getting shunned left and right for various issues and comments and most often failing to follow through or back up certain things maybe he just needs to chill out and spend more time working on his rides then commenting on things he isn't 100 certain on. Seems like a kick *** guy although the more postings I come across by people who appear to have hands on the more I smell funny scents ...

In any event , I do have to back him up on the age old topic of haering audiable difference in various amp manufacturers on same wattage and setup and don't think there are people who can argue otherwise although I heard about some 10k challanges a while back with some Chris guy but perhaps the codnitions for testing where differnt ?

My sweet gf used to say that " If what you have to say isn't more beautiful then silcence itself , keep your trap shut "

Again pardon my ignorance on igorning the topic .

Here is personal advise of hands on experience .

Whatever you do , do not go to Kromer Radio near Honest Eds !!!!

Keep away from Auto Sound Design , especailly Markham .

After having blow an irrelvant amount of Cash I can honestly say that Perfect Audio has so far done me right and the guys are pretty knowledgable and do decent work . Talk to Iggy the owner .

Perhaps ther will be more recommendations but ultiamtly the quality of work you will get will depend on you knowing and being able to translate what it is you want out of your system , secondly price - shop work is always a little prciy cuz there are several chains of command that need to be feed plus havign around good installers cost quiet a bit more then having punks take apart your ride , although we all have to start somewhere but just keep the guiny pigs away from us !!! and last but not least the final compoment is skilled and knoledgable labour that can make it happen given the equipment is aok which your component set defiantly is ! no arguemtns there . not sure about your amps , HU and rest ...

Again , If there are no further suggestions by other board members which I am sure there will be just try to find out what poeple say about a shop they recommned , affeliations and what their recommendations are based on . Perfect Audio Pickering although not in T.O but they will treat you good no matter who send you . I am sure the owner and Wez and all the other guys working there will see to it .

no dreads here ...

but it is impossible for all amplifiers to sound the same normally rigged ? Doesn't that make sense ? So what that challanges basically tells you is that all amps of identical pwoer sound alike and no noticable difference can be heard ? This is illogical but then again maybe someone failed to explain the proper challange to me . On the other hand allot of money would have been handed out If that Clark moran was a man of his word and his story being on the correct side of the equation .

Can't come up with a better - ogy for you so you just made me take back what I felt was ok to have been said . Hope you are happy Steve .

Tune to ear, but remember, what you like, isn't always what a Judge is going to like.

Or if your not going to compete, tune to how you like it.
Gee, that's aweful strange, I don't see ANYTHING at all about a flat curve sounding good. In fact I agreed that it doesn't sound good. But when you compete in Rookie class you have to go through RTA which means you NEED to be as flat as possible in order to get the best score. But once again, people love to just blurt out random crap before they read the post. or read the post and mis-understand what I'm saying.

If the judge listens to the car before RTA you tune to ear, then tune for the RTA mic. This is why an EQ with presets is awesome.

I've only heard one vehicle where flat didn't sound half bad. Other than that, it usually sucks. Why would I say flat sounds like crap..or it sounds good, if I've got no experince with it? If I say something, it's be cause I AT LEAST have SOME experince with the subject.

Anyway, go ahead and twist my words around some more, people. See what other words you can put in my mouth.

I'm going to clear up the whole "amp challenge" thing right now.

Matched gains, no X-over, same source unit and speakers on 2 different amps, won't sound DIFFERENT.

However, same scenario, in the same car, 2 different amps will have different characteristics that can affect imaging.

The SOUND will be the same...it's like comparing a 454 Chevy to a 460 Ford V-8, is there gonna be a DIFFERENT sound? NO. Different exhaust node? Perhaps. Different sound of air being sucked through the carb. Perhaps.

Will both engines perform the same in the same car? There will likely be suttle differences....just like the amps.

But an H22A 4 Cyl Honda vs the 460 Ford....yes, absolutely. Totally different. ie: Butler vs Legacy

I think I've mentioned the vehicle before..it's a red Jeep Cherokee (2003-2004?) that Audiowaves built. Probably the third or fourth vehicle I've seen produce a flat curve that I've actually listened to.

But, the ONLY vehicle I've seen produce a 28-29 curve with a flat eq setting that still sounded decent.
