ha, yea the sub is coming soon

but the money is kinda short right now

and i don't feel like putting my audiobahns (vomit) from

my car into my truck

o, and i just took my panels off, cuz i havn't looked at the mounting situation yet

and the idea of using 6.5's in 6x9 holes might be a little hard to pull of

even with mounting plates

it looks like it might be more of a hassle then im willing

to cope with at this time...........

i gots sum htinkin to do.....

just get 6x9s basic ones w/o tweeters, midrange, man people like to make things harder than they have to be.

imo get some pioneer/mtx/infinity/jbl/ or the likes 6x9s throw em in there and you can use youre fader to lower the volume to suit youre taste. whatever you do dont listen to any fool on here tell u u dont need rear fill.
on the list of things to do in a system it ranks low but it is a good idea to have it for tuning preference.

I have pioneer 4-way 6x9's for rear fill. I keep the level low to keep the sound stage upfront, but really the 4-way 6981's sound way better than my MBQuart components. The trick with the pioneer 4 or 5 way 6x9's is lots of power. They're rated 80w nominal and 420 wmax. I use a bridged 5100T on each 6x9, rated 380wrms. You can put a real full 300 rms in those speakers and they sound great. I have them on a HPF at 80 Hz. Subs do everything below 80Hz. For the price, you can't beat them. You could pay twice as much and still not get better sound.

I agree with most who say you don't need high end speakers for the rear, but i do like low level rear fill. A set of cheappy pioneer 2 or 3 way coax would work great. Depends on your tastes.

Good Luck.

If you are going ghetto, then slap some 6x9s in and yep....you'll need LOTS of tuning LOL.

Or do it right and put some effort into a good set of components, and a decent install.

The LAST thing to spend thought, time or $$$ on is your rear speakers, and you said that money is tight. And if you do the front properly, then you probably won't need them. Either way you can decide that after you have your subs. Then you can buy the ones that offer what you are still "missing", and choose a set that will compliment the fronts better.

I only run front components, and I can still hear lots of sound coming from behind my head. I'm always checking that my rear stock speakers are indeed turned off!

The two big differences between a co-axial and a component are a proper x-over in the critical mid-range frequncies ( as compared to a $0.25 cap in the co-ax), and the ability to locate the tweeter where it works the best in your particular vehicle.
At first listen, a good co-ax will sound a bit louder and brighter than a component set, even if they use the same woofers and tweeters, but if you listen carefully, you will hear that a lot of distortion has been filtered out of the components..
The treble tones are no longer being fed to a woofer that can't play treble well, and more of the upper midrange is removed from the tweeter.
Use a good recording of a female vocalist to listen with, and the difference in tone is about the same as that between "Did you take out the garbage yet" and "Honey, are you coming to bed"!!!

That being said, there are a few companies that make 6x9 component sets, but your choices are far more limited.

And let he who throws stones, get a boulder in the face :cheeky4:

well i have decided to go with 6.5 components in the front now

with sum adapter plates. the extra effort seems to be worth it.

now my next question is, how should i go about finding the most

ideal location for the tweeters?

Starterwiz 04-04-2007 11:40 PM

Install the mids in the doors, and move the tweeters around, before mounting them permanently. Try them in phase and reversed in each location....sometimes they sound better reversed depending on location and path length differences....Take your time, and listen lots. Good luck

haha, damn
i was hoping it was an easier answer then that........
