personally i love that its a "basic install".
flash and over the top is easy. keeping it clean, practical, and achieving the results seen is much harder, with much more work involved.
and under the surface, its not a basic install at all:P
how's the new install coming along Julian?

i didnt say i was an installer, or that i even have a car stereo, that doesnt mean i cant have an opinion. i didnt say his install was bad, just basic so im not too sure what the big deal is, i even made a poin t of saying that winning finals was a great accomplishment.
But to invent a forum name to essentially hide behind to go after a 'rival' so you could be anonymous is not real cool. Dave you have build skills I can only wish I had, but this was uncool.
Also had I been you, I would have selected a screen name that doesnt sound like fudge packer...
I can't see from the pictures.............. are any of the subwoofer terminals or amp terminals exposed ........... the metallic portion of the terminal touchable ?!?!? On those SE's I think it's good on the power side as it's a plug, but how about on the RCA end ???!? .......... just wondering !
For a "basic" daily driver install (apparently), attention to the details in the A-pillars and the kick panel pods is pretty impressive. The kick panel pods are *****-y to have cut holes into the car........ if I read right. But it's what must be done to getter done rite. Not a fan of the cosmetic finishes but who cares. That's all personal taste.
My understanding of the intent is to win based on the rules ....... and smart people go at it with a checklist to knock off each and every piece of criteria and no more...... with as little effort and money as possible to beat the criteria. Anything more is a waste outside of any creativity or bonus areas. Whomever it was taking pot shots at this install is a moron. You play to win based on the rules. World champion is world champion........... there's nothing more to say. Even if there's only two people at the show.
On the flip side "sound quality" judging is SO subjective and thus why I HATE these competitions and got out of it. There's more politics then anything back in the day. I saw so many people loose over the years that shouldn't have and people bought win based on brands. It was sad. Install judging was more grounded and tangible. What you see is what you get. And if I couldn't see it and you couldn't prove it, I gave you the fat lady for a score! The subjective part of sound was always a big black hole ........

Subjective is 100% correct. My SQ score from Daytona was 6 points off from the recent whitby show. (SAME JUDGE). Which is why I took 3rd instead of 1st in Amature. Install can be subjective too. I've seen judges mark down scores just because he can't see it or can't prove it. IASCA brought in the B.O.D rule(Benefit of Doubt) for this exact reason.
I would still be competing this season with my system shown in this thread but unfortunately my work schedule and family affairs come first.
