Anyone have an opinion on the SQ qualities of an IDQ in a sealed box.? The size they suggest for their enclosure has appeal to me due to weight considerations. IS the IDQ a VG value?

Thanks, Bob.

The IDQ has been the best soudnign subwoofer iI have ever owned. It sounds better than my AVI, my type X, my OZ audio and my aliante. Its reputation for being one of the best sound quality subs on the market for the past 10 years is testamet to its perfromance.

I just owned one now, but i'm still undecided on the sealed box volume 1cc/f or 0.85cc/f. I want the best SQL possible. Will ported 1cc/f sound good ?

Awesome...one ft ported low, and you'll have very nice ultra low bass extension. 300 RMS gets it going nicely...just make sure you have a SS filter at 20-25 HZ.
Not the snappiest mid-bass out there, but the bottom end is very detailed, and low.
My favorite sub for pick-ups, as it's small, but performs like a big 12".
Go with a 10 sq" port, around 20" long....a bit larger than the reccomended 7" sq x 15", but a bit less noisy. You'll need nice flares on each end of the port to keep it quiet. Tuning a bit high on a port this long is good, as there is a bit of friction, so it'll end up lower than the programs say.

Sealed will give you a bit better bottom end, and more power handling, at the expense of some output.

Did I miss something?
Everyone is recommending box ideas and he hasn't mentioned what size driver he is using as far as I can see.

I'd be using a ten inch driver, bridged off half a ZED Draconia. Just curious, when the Mfg states the size of the box that their speaker works best in, there is always a fairly substantial range or permisssible sizes. Is there an IDEAl size? Do certain characteristics come into play as the box gets bigger or smaller from the spec?
Merci beaucoups, Bob.
