have any of the 4 people that say it isnt worth it even done it, if not than im guessing your basing your opinion on no real experience except for that guy that might have heard a car 10 or so years ago with ported or sealed boxes for mids

^ The point was that some drivers are designed for IB applications. So a blank statement like the one posted isn't particularly true in my eyes. It all deends on the choice of driver.

have you ever experimented with a "freeair" designed speaker in any other application than "freeair"......if you havent maybe you could have a little fun and give it a try...

Nop, but I might eventually. What has your experience been? Louder I suspect? Perhaps not as flat(if you had an RTA to have a look at what is happening).

i havent done as much experimenting as the guys who runs the shop here but i have seen and heard the differences....he could explain it alot better than i could but im pretty sure hes banned for ever from this site becuase of some disagreement with someone

There is no doubt that going from one to the other wil be different.

we have test boxes here that are .5 and have changable front and back panels for various speaker sizes and to change the ports, the other ones are pair 1.75 cubic feet sealed....

And he is hardly banned - he's been posting here all week. IIRC (and I do) he chose to leave, not the other way around.

Anyway - we discussed this *at length* a couple of years back.

Tell me though - when playing with the test boxes, do you have a well integrated subwoofer playing at the same time?

Djex,what was your opinion, how did they sound?I've emailed Morel about box size for their 5.25 mids but got no answer back.If what I've read is true,for an IB speaker you multiply the VAS by 10 this means the Morel Dotechs want a 3 cu ft box.Not very practical.

^ The general rule of thumb is 10x Vas but generally anything over 3x Vas has little effect on response. So in your case you should hear little difference in any enclosure over 1cuft. This is also dictated somewhat by the Qts of the driver.
