wow.. 590 on the hertz... they are retail 899 and sell pretty much in that ballpark all day long down here..

good luck on your search, there are some nice speaker options for you, i would stay away on the memphis, i have seen them in action and was not impressed they will not give you what the hertz and morel would give you as far as sound quality and response at the higher volume. and being in a vehicle for that long each drive you want something that you will be happy with from the beginning..

Got my C5-650s installed yesterday. Will let you know what they sound like when tuned. They will probably sound amazing due to all the deadening I did yesterday too.

Cheers

C-5 650s

So I had a chance to tune them today! They sound fantastic on a 300/4 running on 75wrms. I honestly cant turn them up as loud as they can go as they can really get up there. I've got them crossed over at 60hz and running a flat EQ off the deck to them and they can handle everything I'm throwing at them. I came from Kenwood Excelon's (1720s) which are rated for the same if not a little more, and found the JL's were much better at producing the spectrum at rated power. It would seem that JL's ratings are very conservative. These speakers are very capable, the highs are excellent, not too harsh since they're silks, but the can definitely be bright when you need them to.

As for the price they were quoting you, I hope they're taxes-in. JL had some pretty huge sales in the last few months (Toronto anyway) in which a lot of dealers bought stock of. You should be able to get them for $600 taxes-in if not a little less.

To give you a few examples of what I cranked today:

(Keep in mind, my car's fully deadened , minus the floor, ceiling and plastic trim
and I had the subs disconnected to make sure I could hear distortion and any clipping while tuning.)

Dave Matthews: Ants Marching
Avenged Sevenfold: Almost Easy (RIP jimmy)
Sting : Fields of Gold
Metallica : One

Mistabishi: White Collar Grime
Reso : Smash your Face in
Bar9/Nero : Bad Trip

Andy Duguid : Wasted
BT : Rose of Jericho
Armin Van Burin : Communication
Tiesto : Feel it in my Bones

Daz Dillinger : My System
Jibbs : King Kong
Jeezy : White Girl
Dorrough : Ice Cream Paint Job
