Kicker L5's in Enclosed Box - Bass Sounds Flat - What To Do?
Hi everyone,
I unfortunately decided to purchase a ported Kicker Box with 2 Kicker L5's only to find the bass and sound to be very flat. Some frequencies (some songs) sound great while others sound awful. Not distorted, but very flat.
Any recommendations on what I could do to fix this? Can this be repaired? Or has it been "blown" and I cannot fix it?
Thanks.

Running off a Kenwood KAC-9102D, 500 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (850 watts x 1 at 2 ohms)
Basically, I was running my CVR 12's (400RMS) in a sealed box, sounded great but why not try something more ... picked up the L5's (600RMS) in a sealed box ... took out the one box, put in the L5's and the sound isn't all that.
The only reason I say it sounds flat is because I can hear a noticeable difference in the music I'm listening to ... where I'd hear crisp sound and vibrating bass, I'm now hearing flat tones instead. Not ALL of tones, but some of them.

the L5's can handle more power therefor they are harder to push. instead of buying better subs you should have gotten more power... then you upgrade to better subs, get more power i bet it will fix your issue.

Well I KNOW I can give these more power and I'll get more out of them ... I just thought the sound would be the same, since the setup is the same and even the music is the same.
I had no idea that it might effect it THAT much though ...
Well, at least that gives me some hope ... I think.

i have afeind who switched from low end subs to high end competition subs, DD2512's-DD9512's and everything went down just cause of not having the power needed to puh the heavy subs, then he got his big amp an it all got better again hahah

Well you're basically creating another project for me for next summer ...
My only concern is, what if it ISN'T this ... with what I have, is there any way to determine whether or not this is the problem?
I guess the only thinkable thing I can do is let someone else hook-up the subs and give a listen, but I don't see that happening any time soon.
I guess the best thing I can do at this point is take these subs out for the time being and put my old ones in ... until I get a better amp and know for sure.
Edit: Now I'm going to have to read up in the forums for suggestions for future amps too lol
