Kicks vs Deadened doors

Focal 165k2ps are coming and need to figure out whether to put them into the doors or get a new kicks setup. The goal is to get the most midbass out of these French spakers. Sound image/stage is the 2nd concern. Comments are appreciated.

I second the doors, but, if you can get a nice, tight sealed enclosure going inside that door, it would sound even better, making for a really snappy midbass ! But, as long as you don't have the backwaves from the speaker creating cancellation if you sound, you're already off to a good start. Also, keep the tweeter as close as possible to you woofer for best results.

It's a 02 accord. I've got a pair of CDT EF62 in the doors for 2 years now and they lack midbass. Doors are well deadened. Tweeter is just 20cm above the mid. I guess a custom enclosure inside the door is on the way. Gotta figure how big is the enclosure.

Found this spec sheet for the k2p mid: click here

On the right bottom there's a suggested application table. The volume it suggested is 30 liters about 1.06 cubic feet. Now that's not what one can fit into the doors considering not to get into window's way.

In a 2-way front stage, there will be trade-offs in either position. IMO, if midbass output is your main goal, I'd suggest the doors. To get good output in kicks, you'd need a lot of airspace.

Also, I found those drivers to have pretty good midbass output IB in the doors.

maybe moving the tweeter to the A-pillar might help..... it could also be a missed alignment having the tweeter where it is or a crossover tuning issue.

do you have the paremeters for the CDT woofer?

Just out of curiousity, how would tweeter placement affect midbass output?

speakers alignment effects transient attacks.... For example: if the tweeter is ahead, the attack of the snare drum will sound thin = lacks midbass.
