Looking for an amplifier...

Hey there, I've pretty much got what I want as far as components down for my car's system.

I currently have some CDT speakers (ES-07 midbass, ES-400 midrange and DRT-25 tweets) for my frontstage. I'm planning on getting myself an Elemental Designs Nine.2X amp to drive these and as far as subs go, I was looking at getting myself a couple of CDT SQ-1200. They're rated at 800WRMS and are 4ohms SVC drivers.

Now, I'm gonna need an amp to drive these babies, but, what to get that can deliver 2 X 800W @ 4ohms OR 1 X 1600W @ 2ohms. I'm really going for SQ on this setup. So, any suggestions ?

Forgot to mention, so far, i've been looking at a few possibilities :

Elemental Designs Nine.1, and the Clarion DPX11500. I've heard lots of good about the ED amp, but nothing about the Clarion as far as SQ goes. People just say it's loud, but if it's loud and sounds like c**p, then, I don't want it.

Well, the zapco and audison amps aren't really in my price range. Actualy, as far as audison goes, even the VRx 1.500 doesn't really cut it as far as necessary power goes.

I'd go for the NINe.1 for the subs, or even another NINe.2x, OR you could wait and get a NINe.5x

that is why i did not get that amp (the audison are nice but you need to run 2 audison vrx 1.500 in line to get good power =$$$$$$$$$$)

That Clarion amp sounds great. Also a G class utilizing the D class power benfits with the sound of an AB. And PFS (Precise Freq Selection) xover tuning so its bang on. Full power at 1 or 2 ohms and strappable. and sound nice.

i wouldnt look for the nine.5x for a long time, lol. even then its supposed to only do 600 on the sub channel.

i hope they release the 13av2 before the nine.5x.

now for constructive comments, i have heard the clarion, and it sounds nice, better than some of their older stuff, which seemed to suffer from turn-on noises.

i havent heard the nine.1 but i do have one coming my way right now.

Thanks for the input. Anyone have a Clarion DPX11500 can give me an opinion as to how it sounds ? Damping factor when being run at 2 ohms compared to the Nine.1 ?

If you're running SQ subs, I would say, go with a class AB amp, or even 1 per sub. I might have something very interesting for you at an affordable price. Contact me if you would like, I'm not too far from you.
