Lossy vs lossless
I like progressive psy trance best for sound quality. However, I have no access to original quality, at best FLAC once in a blue moon. And changing from 192 to 320 is very noticeble. This type of music is very clear and crisp from lows to highs. One track that comes to mind which is done in mindblowing mastering quality is "Ace Ventura - San Paulo(Sensient remix)", which is around 6 months old.
Also, it is a bit harder for me to judge the quality flactuations in music I am not familiar with, as I do not know how it should sound exactly. I am under impression, that sometimes more of a live music type is not mastered as well as pure digital with flactuations all over the place. Let us know the results...but I am quiet sure I heard the SQ go down at 55 secs or so, unless that was that live music thing I was talking about, where the music part took a dive in output or something like that.
I only used the Denon 2000 headphones, I also have the Audio Technicas 700 Pro, which are more dialed-in for upfront midrange sound.

what? no one else want s to try it? i think this is better than an ABX test as it allows you to judge both tracks instantanesously. There's no forgetting or time for your brain to re-set. If there's an audible difference, it should be immediately obvious. As it is, i can't tell theres two very different sampling rates being used...lossless and 112 kbps...that's 31 MB vs 3.7 MB!!
I need to have a listen see if I can back up my talk from above
I just found this as well, different from the one I mentioned before but still would be a nice test.

I'm in the process of uploading a psy-trance track...sao paolo- ace ventura...doing the same thing...lossless mixed instantaneously with 112 kbps. It's a long track..87 MB, so I'll just upload a sample...3minutes should be enough. Once again, I can't tell the difference. If you can tell approximately when the bit rate changes..you have better hearing than me! link soon to come....
by the way, this is not meant to cause trouble. I just happened to be screwing around with the mixer and noticed that it can do seemless instant mixes...so one thing lead to another, and I realized that this is about as good of an a/b test as you can get.

again, in the first 33 seconds I'm synching and the mixer is centered..therefore higher levels and more pronounced bass. At 32-34 seconds, the track is switched to lossless...from there you can tell me when it's changed to 112 kbps. Have fun!
Well, it is not the Sensient remix version as requested, but no biggie, nice track, and I was enjoying it. The entire rip sounded in pretty bad quality, not sure where you got it, but I get it in 320 and it sounds waaaay better than that. But I think the quality went even more downhill around 2 mins and 10 secs into it
