Unhappy Mid-bass problem

Hey everyone, long time no see!

I got a quick question concerning my mid-bass.

Im running a set of Diamond Audio D3 D363.5 - 6.5" Components in the front and a set of Diamond Audio D3 D363.5i - 6.5" Coaxial in the rear.

I set my pioneer DEH p880-prs's first HPF filter (front) @ 80Hz with a 6db slope
and second HPF filter (the rear) @ 125hz (since i got the 15" right behind it) with 6db slope.

I..i..i.. just don't feel it..it's feels weak and pathetic IMHO.

I'm I setting it wrong? Diamond audio just crap? car just crap for sound?? Custom speaker pods on door will fix it? I really don't feel like buying sound dampening material :/

What should be a recommend settings if I'm wrong to get me in the right direction? If u can also give me an idea on equalizer settings that could be nice, i can adjust 20hz, 31.5, 50, 80, 125, 200, 315, 500, 800, 1.25Khz, 2, 3.15, 5, 8, 12.5, 20 range with +/-6db

Thanks!

-Mitch

Is -6db the only Xover slope on your Pioneer? I'd try at least -12db. 63-80hz is O.K. for Xover point.

If midbass is a problem, be sure to double check your speaker polarities. Then using your EQ to bump the 80, 125hz ranges will help. Also not sure if your Pioneer has BBE but if so, I turn mine on & set it to 1. Helped in the bass - midbass range.

I hate to tell you you man, but you are going to need some deadening in there. Will make more difference than you can imagine. Trust me I just did my doors and massive difference. Although I have never heard any myself, I have heard that Diamond are fairly good. Just my $0.02

Deadening X100 When applied properly, really helps bring out your doors.

I run the D3 5.25" components in my doors. They NEED to be amplified if you want good midbass outta them. My doors are like 20% deadened so that might help but i suggest if they arent amped, then you might wanna look at a cheap 4 channel amp.

I have mine running off a RF 200.2 giving them like 50rms per side and they sound great. HPF is set on the amp to like 60-70hz and it gives out strong midbass without distortion

Edit: WHen i first purchased the speakers, i used them in some small enclosures i built for my garage. if you were to do kick pods like you said, and seal them up, its definatly gonna boost your midbass

Yes I have BBE enabled and set to 1 already. As for the amp, I was looking a hifonics 4 channel amp, 4x75rms I believe. I guess deadening just the doors is not to bad, shouldn't cost much I imagine, $150 or so?

And as for the polarities, now that you mention it, i will double check.

Thanks for the reply guys.

I checked the polarities this afternoon, all check out well, double checked the radio wiring, OEM wiring and new speaker wiring.

Played with the equalizer to, got it bit better. Had to lower the sub about -9db or else it was to loud with the new settings. I also have BMX on my radio, what should I set that at?

Guess I should buy some sound deadening then. eDead looks inexpensive. How much square foot you guys reckon I need? I have to do the inner door + skeleton frame of the door, right??
