mid-range

and to complete my questions involving bass and tweeters I will add one for a mid-range speaker.

I have apline SPX-177R in my door and they're great.. the only problem is they are so powerfull they will shake my door panel (with bass) and sound horrible.. If I put my hand down and pull on the door panel it will stop the anoying sound..
Is this a case where you put dyno-matt in your door?

another solution is to set the cross-over freq really high.. but that's just stupid..

anything else I can do?

Try to sound deaden and seal the door as much as you can. This means you have to remove the door panel, get dynamat or equivalent (I like B-Quiet), and apply to the inside door skin, and any bare metal you can acess. For best results, attach the speaker to a baffle board made of 1/2" or thicker mdf or abs(if you can get it made). Make sure the door is sealed as much as you can, particularly between the front and rear of the speaker (the idea is to get as much separation/isolation between the front and rear waves produced by the speaker. Lastly, isolate specific noises, and reduce them by applying silicone, glue, wedges, insulation foam, rubber mounts, etc...

Applying an xover isn't stupid. It will help, xover it around where your subs LP is.

Usually +-80hz HP for your mids and +-80hz LP for your sub. You can cut off lower but that usually involves better deadened doors.

Crossover the speakers at the right setting. Looks like those alpines are 6.5's. I'm wondering what your xover is set at for these speakers.
they should be playing above 80,90, or even 125 or even as high as 150. all depends what you want out of them.
If they are really pounding then they are not crossed over properly in my opinion.

well, I wouldn't call them 'really' pounding..
setting the cross at 160 takes the problem away.
having it as low as 80 exaggerates the problem.
the problem comes out at the start of
Tool - Jambi .. obviously many other songs.. but that was the song that made me annoyed because I love it and I was like F* stop distorting.. but it was my door panel..

Am I taking away from my mids If I play them 160hz? even 125hz?

and I had the cross at 125hz when it made me angry, I previously found that 80hz would vibrate the door constantly..

Cross them as low as they'll play comfortably, fix the vibrations and resonance.

you called these "mid range" is this a 2way or 3way front?.

If by 2 way or 3 way front, you're asking If I'm running subs and tweets?
then I have
2 12" lows
2 6.5" mids
and 2 tweets..
(I broke one tweet and one of my mids came broken...) so I'm only running audio on the left side of my car.. which makes me cry.. o well)
