Need help deciding on set of components
#1
I soon will be purchasing 6.5" components but do not know much about what brand is good for SQ, since there are so many different brands.
I also would like a brand which offers good sound quality at a relative mid range price. I plan on powering them with my Alpine T220 amp, rated @ 50x2 @ 4ohms. Also, if I do plan on powering the components does it make sense to disconnect my rear door speakers? They are only 4" speakers and was also thinking if I should upgrade them or just disconnect them? Thanks in advance.

i think befor you get those "sq" sounding mids you should get a real "sq" amp!!once you have a real amp, maybe look into the dei components. very nice looking, have gotten excellent reveiws from all the mags, and are a decent price.

Thanks for the advice. Prices for focal and mb quart go past the $400+ mark and too much for what I am willing to spend. And again, what I meant with SQ is I just want clarity, not for competition or show; just for myself. What do you guys think about Polk Audio DB6500 or MMC6500 components?

Are you set on a 2 way set? There's someone (not me) selling a CDT HD 3-way set in the for sale section for $350. I have used this set (although I didn't have these crossovers, which are supposed to be better), and I liked it very much.

Have you ever looked into the Chameleon Components from Image Dynamics? The 6.5 can be mounted as a component or coaxial mount. Nice passives, gorgeous tweeter, C.F. mid with Phase plug, and sell for about $550-$650.00 CDN. To see them, go to or call Craig at CBS Installations at (780)621-1302
