I’m looking to hear as many sets of different components as i can in the Toronto area, hopefully some side by side.
some that I want to hear are:
MB Quart (have not found any in TO yet)
Focal (have yet to hear what all the hipe is about)
Infinity (not sure about)
Alpine (always thought of them as low end! i know, i know im wrong)
JL (heard, but very pricey)
Morel (someone on here has a set for sale, this brand is new to me)
And any others that might be better price and quality wise than the next.
I’m looking to spend about $400 on components, I will need a set of coax as well for rear passengers this is a separate budget though so no worries.
This is going to go in my Chevy Avalanche with a Kenwood DNX8129 HU (already installed). Not sure if im going to use my current Kenwood Kac-8104 amp or not depending on if its big enough to drive the speakers I get. Amps seem to be an easy thing to come by around here for cheap so im not too worried about that yet!
I will also like some info on good subs without breaking the bank! This is a daily driver so im not looking to break any windows, but loud is always nice to have from time to time (ie: all windows open including mid deck on 401 at 120km/hr). or just plain want it loud.. im more into great sound than big boooom..
please keep in mind that im a noob, so dont go throwing all sorts of Model# at me
thnx
If your still looking for Focal and Alpine, there's a place on college street, I believe in the 500 address range that does both Focal and Alpine and the owner has the focal components in his Civic demo car if he still has the car, ask for Diane/George or Joey

Sounds like numberonesound.com

They carry both brands and are very good installers from what I understand

its a small world eh? Red did the screen in the Astro on the top and the deck I think, Joey and I did the amp in the back as far as I can remember....did you have the pleasure of meeting Red before he left? What a character he was!

Things i recommend to everyone...
Components - Anything from Focal. If you can afford them than do it. They make a world of difference for sound quality.
Subs - Since you have a truck and dont care much about making your head cave in, i would recommend 1 or 2 JL Audio W1v2's. 4.34" mounting depth which would allow you to put them behind your rear seat and are designed with a bunch of different patents and new technology ANNND theyre also very cheap. around 175 each for the 10" ones.
Amp - That Kenwood amp you have should be good to power the subs.(I believe its a 1 channel amp)

You can run your door speakers off the deck power but if you want optimal volume and clarity its always better to amp your speakers too. I always recomend a JL Audio 300/4 amp but they are very pricey.

I hope you found any of this useful.
