well, no, i don't do anything, this is my side hobby.
i slapped a few boxes for myself and am installing most of the stuff on my own since 04, so I'm not in this game for too long. i usually screw everything up in the finishing department, like vinyling my last set of tweeter pods.. lol. didn't turn out too good. always trying to rush it. still got to learn a few things.

are you going to buy your sub enclosure from somewhere?
because if you have at least some tools, time, then you can do it yourself. custom shop box will be maybe a couple hundred $ right there... if doing yourself, materials will probably reach $60.

that would involve fiberglassing, if you want to use the space to its max, i mean you can probalby do piece by piece with mdf, but its going to be pita anyway.

there are many tutorials on the net, i can even find you a good user log on another forum if you are interested in it. i mean it will take time to get it done, so if you want to invest time, you sure can.

question to ask yourself before you jump into the spare tire enclosure is how much space you got there. plus the mounting depth to accomodate the sub. i mean a guesstimate based on the dimensions would help. as a rule most 12s sealed would want about 1cube or so each. there are exceptions though.

dont worry too much about a sub at this point. i mean it plays how much of your range? say 20hz - 80hz, that's not a lot of bandwith to cover. once the front stage is solid, most medium good and up sub will work just great.

have you mentioned what car this is going into?

if its a newer few years old car I'd probably venture into a good install. If it's something older, why bother too much. Something like a simple sealed box against a backseat will do just fine.

and don't worry about your friends system in the truck
afterall, your system should provide you with good music listening experience.

well when i look at it i think theres a lot of space but, there may not be, id take a picture for you but my cars in markham right now i wont get it back till tuesday evening. i'll try and look up some tutorials now, i think one of my buddies has done some fiberglassing before.

ive kinda put a little something together here for a system what do you think of this, the pro60s for components, one G512 for my sub and for a 5 channel amp the GT50, yes all from boston kinda thought if its all good quality why not have them stay the same brand. i havent been able to find the memphis one you mentioned

seems pretty good, haven't heard any of this myself. but read people liked those subs.

only thing im not totally sure is the amp, its basically 4x50 + 190 / 250w for a sub, that is not a whole lot...

shop around, see if you can get better power for the money from a 4ch + mono amp combo.

what model PG is that?
PG used to have top notch amps, then it kinda went down, but last rsd series is a fine amp, but looks kinda eh.
