New car, New system.

New car, New system.
K so been a while but I'm thinking of doing up a new car.
In a couple weeks I'll be buying a black 4 door 2001 Oldsmobile Alero.
It's pretty much loaded, no sunroof and no leather.
I was thinking of building a competition car out of it, my only requirments are that it still leaves me with most of my trunk for the stroller or whatever and doesn't take away from too much leg room up front.
I've been out of the loop for over a year, I really don't know what's going on with competition this year same with gear, but I will be attending the judge training this year.
For the gear I'm pretty much open to suggestions other than, I'm using my Focal Utopias and my Kicker CompVR.
I was looking into the Alpine w200 for a deck....I though of using my Clarion DRX-9255 but I'm sick of building trim peices, and my Denonford 8250Ti wouldn't look right. I was also thinking of running the H701 optically from the W200.
I'll likely use my Audiocontrol 4XS for the crossover.
I'm stumped for amps.....I don't friggin know where to start.
I want nice amps, but I'm not spending a fortune on them. I'd like them to be relatively small and all the same relative size. If I spent 2K on amps my wife would kick my head in but I think thats about my budget, which should leave me a lot of options. I'd like to maybe run a 2 channel and a 4 channel for the front stage and then some sort of sub amp. sub amp doesn't need to power a city, I think 500WRMS is MORE than enough.
Then on top of all that, I gotta find a nice set of midbass for the doors. The Focal 5WS comes to mind but they may be too deep I also thought about a Kicker 6" but like I said, I've been away for a year and I'm open to suggestions.

For midbass I'm thinking of these for myself:
http://www.buycdt.com/drivers_es06%2B.htm
they're stoopid beefy and claim that they still keep some midrange detail
another option, these are more like subs but would work really well 3 way with a dedicated midrange. ED stuff simply amazes me with what it does for the price:

a buddy has two in his dakota as his main subs (no room for anything else) and they outperform many 8's that I've heard.
For amps Zapco's are always a good bet, but there are craploads of tiny companies making great products nowdays. Hopefully some other members will chip in and expand on my limited knowledge.

Not sure what the mounting depth is yet, I don't have the car.....it's already got something there....it's got midrange in the doors and they're angled and tweets in the sail panels, but I'll mount mine in the a-pillars since they should have lots of room there.
The only CDT drivers I've heard were with a door open while I was outside, but they sounded ok from where I was standing, I'd give them a shot.
And ED I have no experience with but they seem to have a great reputation

I'm still looking for the right one....I'm really looking hard for an 85-86 Hatch with the 5.0L, but I don't want a huge system taking up space and adding to the weight.
I think the Alero is a much better platform for an SQ system....it's a bit newer and might not quite have the rattles the stang would have

for mid bass try the elemental design's 6.5" that they have, works great i'm told in a 3way setup.
i'm going to be running their 9kv.2's in my datsun along with their eDi6000v2 components, as for amps I'm going to run an eD NINe.2 amp (2x100w rms @4ohm) for the comps and a NINe.2x (600x1 @4ohm) for the 9kv.2's
they have GREAT package deals IMO on buying gear from their website and i even got free shipping to canada. most packages will net you a 15% saving and free shipping. Helluva deal IMO. My front stage was $301.75 shipped USD amp and components... pretty cheap IMO for what i got, and the full 5 yr warranty as well.

its well worth a look. talk to the online tech's and see what they say with regards to what you are looking for. i'm sure u can find them helpful if nothing else.
good luck

I was looking at ED's website last night.....they look nice, they pretty well match up with the look of the car....well, what it will be.....Black and brushed aluminum, but do they make the power they say? I've heard nothing but good things but never heard them for myself. I wanna run the big mono amp they have for my sub, which will be at 2 ohms.....it seems to make pretty decent power at 2 and 1 ohm, but are the power specs realistic? Are they underrated?
looking at the Nine.2 and Nine.4 for my front stage.
Looks like probably around 1000 bucks for all 3 amps which is stellar if they perform well.
