new fosgate

hi gang well its been an interesting summer so far and i have some new gear in the car..... for starters i am running a quart front stage now. i ditched the jvc t.v. deck and went for the denford 8250. and got the new rockford 360.2. as far as the deck goes, sounds nice but very quirky... wont eject c.d.s all the way and if there is even a tiny scratch on the disc.......... forget about it playing it!!! its pretty easy to use and has tons of output voltage so out of 5 it gets a 4. now that rockford 360.2. ok ok forget about setting up the pda and forget about getting the 360.2 actually working,( you have to play a worbble tone through the unit to set it up) i had to get one of the computer techs to get my pda formatted and was on the phone to r.f. tech support to get the unit in the proper mode. well was the peice worth the money.................. well once you get going on the pda the acutal usage is very easy and works like a dream...... complete control of everything in a very tiny package...... now the bad........ cant tune on the road, if i need more highs i have to turn on my pda wait for it to hook up to the unit then make go through the menus to eq then make the adjustments..... sorry i crashed my car 2 min ago...... not very smart....... next the eq screen is so small i can hardly see the # and when i move one frequency, i often hit 2 other ones..................... cant see what is happening to the speakers when adjusting its oposite, ok was that +3db at 80hz or +4 db at 80 hz??? not well laid out............. also there is only one output for subs but they give you the option to use that channel as hp/lp/bp.. hummmm. ok......unit comes with a remote bass ****, nice touch but if you happen to bump the **** you kill the system for almost 30 secs......... very fustrating............... after playing and tuning with it for almost 2 months now i can saftly say that the peice is worth every penny to make your system sound fantastic...... but i regret selling off my dqxs....... as far as iam concerned no one but no one makes an eq as easy to use and well build and can do what an eq/xover is suppose to do like audio control.......... they have been doing it the longest and well hell all the idiosycrysies would have been worked out of the rockford peice if ac had built it.... oh well iam stuck with it now and that just makes me wish i would have stuck to my guns about how much i hate rockford.. why did i ever think they could do something right!!!!!!!!!!!! dumb ***.

Randy I found that if you use a chisel tip stylus then it is easier to adjust the eq on your front/rear/center without hitting a bunch simultaneously. The sub is easy since the eq graph is smaller and more spaced out.

I am wondering if the delay from my Tungsten E2... when I do a full front eq curve is from my Palms processor speed or lag from bluetooth. Do you have the same problems?

As far as changing on the fly...I just made about a dozen or so different eq settings and saved them. I pull one out of my "manage files" and it changes for me. However I can't really do it while I drive though. Too much attention away from the road so I know what you mean.

What kind of range are you getting via bluetooth from outside the vehicle?

Hey randy! Oddly enough, i was talking to rob yesterday and he mentioned that the DQXS you sold him is now for sale. As it turns out, he is not building his car so.......maybe BUY IT BACK THEN! Good write up on the usability though. People will be able to decide whether the piece is for them or not based on the items that are required that you have listed. I think most have us have made those kind of purchases at one time or another. Check out a few other forums on your denford piece. A few guys have been writing specifically about that unit and some of the CD challenges. I think by looking at carsound.com and elitecaraudio.com you might be able to do some reading to find out what is going on.

rock on!

Very interesting feedback, Randy. I bet it would be appreciated posting that on Carsound too. I like the 360.2 except for the PDA interface. Sure, making a controller is expensive and flipping through endless menu's kinda sucks too but there's the cost to buy a PDA, wait time to load, hope that the Bluetooth connection is working, small graphics, etc. I'm really puzzled why they didn't toss in a USB port to interface a laptop with it.

ya paul you warned me my bad...... iam just kicking myself now for buying the two rockford peices on trade for my sony xes system!!! i said it befor and i will say it again DUMB ***!!! and Joe i get about 3 ft range from my processor, which is mounted under the 3rd brake light. this peice should have a toslink input/output to connect up to a deck with that option then the deck could control the 360.2.. it would entail some nifty software, but if they can put a man on the moon>>>>>>>>>>>> anyone want to buy a denford deck!!!! 400 bucks

^ Well, considering what you paid for the NEW RF to what I paid for my USED Alpine processor, you did get a good deal. My only real bitch about the 360.2 is that it does not accomodate 3way front end + sub and that there is no USB for a laptop.

Bummer about the deck though.

The 360.2 does have its limits. It is designed as an installers tool and the ultimate OEM integration tool, not really meant to be used on the fly. It is designed to tune the vehicle in the shop. Many end consumers of the 360.2 never touch/adjust the thing after the shop has optomized their vehicle.

I like Joe's idea about having a couple different 'system' setting stored and then you can just select as needed. This is a great way to switch between your system being optomized for SQ to being optomized for SPL in under a minute.

You can set up a 3-way front end if you use the rear channels in combination with the front (sorry, no rear fill in this configuration).

I think there is infinitely more positives to the 360.2 than negatives.
