Future Shop has them for $399.00. Question is, can I upload songs with no compression into the hard drive and get full CD quality sound? That's about 25 to 30 CD's worth of music. Almost worth getting that instead of a CD Changer, no? I like the fact I can download music using wireless. Since I have wireless router at home and park the car in the garage which is less than twenty feet away from the router, it should be a snap. The Omnifi has FM modulator and RCA outputs, so if I go with RCA connections into Aux of Deck, SQ should be decent. Any experiences, thoughts???

If the CDs dont get any kind of compression when gettin recorded to the harddrive, I think it will sound pretty good over all. What u have to consider is this, sure ur not goin to have CD quality over all. But ull have a huge library on hand, it all depends on what u consider to be CD quality. For me I have over 1500+ mp3s that i ripped at 320kbps and my friends cant tell if its cd or a mp3 when they come over and listen to music

Do some research on the omnifi to see if it suites your needs, just before I left FS I took a hard look at them and it was pretty stupid how some things were done, the newer omnifi has alot of the bugs worked out of it. But the big question is, how long is omnifi going to be around, FS sold off their rights to it.
I would get something like the Alpine Hard Drive unit, that will hold tons of music.

The OMNIFI is cool, but take away the wireless capability and you have an FM modualted changer at heart. An FM MP3 Changer can be had for about $250 and wil hold almost as much music, compared to $400 for the OMNIFI. If I was given one I would probably use it, otherwise pass.

Also, Clarion now has the "Music Catcher" system which directly stores songs off CD as they are played. It only holds about 6 CDs worth of songs but it's built right into the head unit [img]graemlins/thumb.gif[/img]
For me having 6 CDs worth of tunes stored in the deck plus the ability to play one at any time in the slot is perfect.

didn't Sony and Pioneer both make hard drive decks about 2 years ago....they both looked pretty decent and they held way more music than the Clarion Music Catcher system...they also had decent audio controls as well...ebay maybe???
