Options for a Raw driver (subwoofer) SQ based

Redesign time, this time i'm going for less SPL and more SQ. And by more I mean completely SQ from my subwoofer. Of course there are many options (Focal, Morel etc...) from companies devoted to car audio. What I am looking for though is something similar but from Dayton, Seas, Scanspeak, Vifa etc...

I have 300w @ 4ohm to play with on an A/B class Alpine F600 4 channel.

Sealed or ported doesn't matter.

12" preferred however a 15" if it is geared for smaller boxes. Nothing over 3ft2

Budget is flexible but say $500 or under. The less the better obviously but my ultimate goal is clean and clear.

Got looking at that Peerless and it reviews quite well. Another one that came up often enough in searching was the Dayton RSS315HO-4 which runs a bit cheaper. Anyone had any personal experience with either?

Given these options I certainly think I can find something closer to the $200 mark and still be quite happy.

All my experience to date is with off the shelf brands. In my last set up I was using
JL 12w3v3 and am anxious to have something that surpasses them in SQ. Not that they were that bad, just want better.

Johnny - I will keep you on my list of options. I have heard great things about those subs.

If you were going to go JL Audio for SQ you should have went with the W6v2. That Peerless sub looks swwweeeeet.

The box you put the woofer in, and your midbass, will make a bigger impact on how your bass sounds than the driver itself. Find one you like that works in the space you have and that you can afford and move ahead.

Interestingly, the definition of the "kick" and how "clean" and precise the sound is also comes from higher in the frequency range then just the midbase area to.
