Perpendicular Planes: Tweeter.

Has anyone ever run a tweeter perpendicular to their mids? If so was there a noticeable separation effect? I'm going to try it either way, but I'm curious because I couldn't find any discussion of this anywhere online.

Any time drivers are not mounted on the same plane and directed at your ears there will be some form of interference and reflection, the results of which are never going to improve linearity.

The counterpoint will be whether having the tweeter directly facing your ears is more beneficial than the mid being so off axis is detrimental. Since it seems you are stuck with the mids being that way, I say go for it.

lol

I had some speakers laying around and it just bugged me that I had 5 unused channels tucked away.

That was my fear. I've always hated the idea of how unpredictable window reflection is (as if anything in a car interior is predictable).

That's why I didn't make the tweeter mounts especially solid. If it's bad I'll just plop em on the same axis and fire at the window.

On a seperate but related note, do you really WANT tweeter for rear fill? I really like some nice mid/midbass fro rear fill, but find tweets bring much of the sound stage too far back.
My $.02

I'll probably be using DTS Neo:6 for real fill.
