A-pillar/dash pods for clarity
 

Does anyone have experirnce with a-pillar or dash pods instead of kickpanels, for increased clarity & soundstage?
Really considering this with some quality 4" coaxes but its a daunting project.
Build logs, photos or opinions are welcome.

I wouldnt have a mid below the dash ever again after getting mine set up. The windshield can definitely play a factor in the frequency response though,

I was hesitant to undertake such a project, but it was absolutely worth investing in.
If you have the means, definitely give it a shot.

One of the biggest hurdles can be that the driver side speaker will often overpower the sound from the passenger side speaker. Time alignment is usually needed.

If I ever get my butt in gear I will be running a 3way set in the front with the mid and tweet in the a-pillar this time around.

Nice. I would need something similar; more of an a-pillar pod than dash pod due to the way the a-pillar attches to the a-pillar post.
I'm thinking of building the baffles and using something temporary for an eclosure so I can try them in the actual position prior to building the pods.
I'm leaning towards on-axis at ear level, but will do what is neccessary to sound right, in both seats, to me.

It depends on the driver as to how on-axis the frequency response is. Some have much better off-axis response curves than others. A surprising number of people claim that off-axis mounting in the A-pillar sounds wonderful - a chunk of these people have also run on-axis setups. Best method is to throw your driver into a tiny temporary enclosure (think duct tape and a tuna can or cardboard box), wire them up, then put them in their future home, adjust to find the angle that your ears enjoy best.

With my full-range project I found about a 15degree off axis mounting gave the most pleasing results. Now to build them...
